RIAD VILLA ALMERIA :

Is a delightful Bohemian and old fashioned Riad of 800 m2,
situated in the Kasbah and Royal Palace quarter (accessible directly by car to the door) just close to the center of the Medina, nearby the main attractions of the city : Palais Badi & Palais Bahia (5 min walk), Place des Ferblantiers (3 min walk), Souks (5 min walk), Jemaa El Fna main square (10 min walk).

The tallest rooftop garden in the medina makes up for simple rooms that are wonderfully inexpensive. Fantastic views over the city and a beautiful swimming pool on the roof top.

The style of the house differs from some of the more modern renovations, with Riad Maison Rouge retaining a shabby chic style reminiscent of a bygone age.

It is a large traditional house with a central courtyard. A swimming pool (7m x 3m) runs on the roof top with the solarium, nearby the Spa area and the living room restaurant-bar.

This boutique hotel has 4 Suites and 9 Superior Double Rooms all with ensuite bathroom which overlook the courtyard. All bedrooms have heating and air conditioning.

The top floor terrace have magnificent views of the town, the Mosques and in winter the distant snow-capped Atlas Mountains.

Have a drink, mint tea or a romantic dinner under the stars...

Maison Rouge was a beautiful oasis to come home to after a long day in the medina. Very good service, good breads for breakfast, and we enjoyed the beautiful pool deck. Would stay here again if I want to be in the south of the medina. A good spot to get to the palaces and Saadian tombs. A favorite restaurant close by is La Famille.

We were made very welcome from the start. The Riad is perfectly situated in town close to many of Marrakesh's delights. It was a bit tricky to find the Riad at first as its not signposted. We were welcomed with food that ended up being the best couscous Tajini during our stay. Breakfast was simple with not much variety. The rooms were smaller than expected, a bit damp this time of year but very nice nevertheless. Overall this was a great stay and would recommend to anyone wishing to be close to town.

Ian's place is run by a team of very kind and genuine individuals. They are eager to please and will go out of their way to ensure you're happy. The riad is in a neighborhood outside of the main tourist areas. It's at least a 10-20 minute walk to restaurants and shopping. We did a half day city tour through them with an excellent guide for 50 euros. I also booked a hammam and massage with them at the roads and the service also was great. The extra meals (lunch/dinner) and wine at the riad were fantastic, but much more expensive than eating out and could take a very long time to prepare (e.g. Over an hour wait time on more than one occasion). The rooms are well appointed. My brother and I stayed in 3 different ones and all had a slightly musty, sewer smell, which can be common at times with places in this part of the world, including Europe. Generally it was peaceful and quiet to relax on the roof in the sun, if no children are running around or large parties are booked. If that, then you hear everything. If you are used to travel and going with the flow, you will enjoy your time here.

We've had a great stay at La Maison Rouge in Marrakech, we felt really welcome and the atmosphere at the Riad is very relaxed. The understanding and flexibility when oir flight was cancelled was great and our reservations was changed into a later date. We stayed in the beautiful Ferrari room and it was a very nice but we thought it was a bit overpriced. The Riad had a nice chilling area on the top of the building for relaxation after a hectic visit of the Medina. It even has a small pool to cool down. Great service and friendly staff, good cleaning! Ian thanks for the nice atmosphere and flexibility!

The Riad had a lovely looking façade and the internal look was great (awesome art work and decor). It has a funky laid back feel with really friendly staff who speak English. Hamam/massage was really great and is a must do here. The Riad rooftop provides a secluded haven to chill in after the hustle and bustle of the medina and souk. Enjoyed the tasty fish tajine. We'd hired a car and the parking here was easy with the bonus of it being free. Sadly, it wasn't all great :-( Service was super slow: for lunch we waited over 1 hour to receive our dishes which we were told was because of the Eid festival making availability limited (we'd have happily changed our choices if we knew) Mojito came without a straw making it pretty impossible to drink (go for the flag beer instead!), breakfast breads and eggs were cold. The Riad is quite a distance from the centre (30 mins walk). We didn't like the room (Vermillion) we were offered: Bad smell from bathroom (which we asked about before our visit due to seeing previous reviews), room was damp, toilet was not fixed to ground, dirty shower, cockroach legs on rug and it seemed to be a wifi black spot. Overall, it was a pleasant enough stay which could have been a fantastic stay if we had a nicer room and if restaurant service was more efficient.
