Swim, sail, kayak or just sit on the porch and enjoy the view! Walk to shops, restaurants and historic Sono from this large house right on Long Island Sound. One mile from the train station, one hour to NYC.
This house is perfect for a large family or two small families. There are four bedrooms, three of which contain queen beds. One of the bedrooms is large and also has bunk-beds. The fourth bedroom has a single bed and a chair-bed. In addition there are 2 sofabeds downstairs: one in the living room and one in a den that you can close with pocket doors for privacy.
There are 2 full bathrooms (the hall bath has a tub, the master bath has a stall shower) and a half bath downstairs, plus a fantastic, private outdoor shower -- great for washing off after a swim.
The house is directly on Long Island Sound. Just walk down a few steps and you can swim, kayak, row or sail. However, you will probably spend most of your days on the large porch overlooking the water!
Renters will have access to 2 floors of the house, plus the basement which has a pool table, ping pong table and laundry machines.
You will also have access to 3 kayaks (two singles and a double) and a small sailboat (a Sunfish).
Interaction with guests
This is our primary home. We will be renting it when we are away on vacation. You can reach us by email during your stay.
Other things to note
We live sustainably. We have solar panels on our roof, low-flow showers and low-flow toilets. Please consider using the clothesline instead of drying your clothes in the dryer.
The house is more than 100 years old and we raised four children here. It is well-loved but shows a little wear and tear. Please treat it with care, especially the original wood inlaid floors and doors.
We have chickens in a fenced part of the yard. A neighbor will be coming twice a day to take care of them. You may feed them table scraps, visit them and even pick them up. They might even lay an egg or two for you!
No smoking. No pets (our chickens were once attacked by a dog).
