I'm a musician raised in Rio, renting an excelent double bedroom with a king size bed in my apartment in Ipanema, perfect for 1 or 2 travelers in this incredible location: just 3 blocks from Ipanema beach and one block from Praça General Osório!

The space

This is a very clean 3 bedroom flat with 2 bathrooms, in a 24-hour doorman building right beside the metro station.

The building is historic, projected in the 1950s by the famous brazilian architect Sergio Bernardes, in the elegant and rationalist style of modernism then dominant in Rio. It stays on a charming and quiet tree-lined street, only one block from Praça General Osorio, famous for the hippie fair on sundays, and for carnival parades such as Banda de Ipanema.

Equiped eat-in kitchen for shared use, with a 4-seater table and washing machine. You will find lovely cafes for breakfast very close by.

The living room, with floor to ceiling windows facing south, is bright, with TV and DVD facilities, and plenty of brazilian music videos and CDs for you to enjoy when I'm not giving classes or working on musical arrangements.

There is a spacious shared bathroom with a great water pressure shower, water temperature control and toilet area. Clean towels are provided for each guest.

**** YOUR BEDROOM ****

You're renting a good-sized double bedroom. It has a comfy king bed with clean linen, well furnished, with a blackout curtain, ceiling fan and air conditioner. It's bright, cosy and fairly quiet, with a nice view over trees and greenery. Wi-Fi (10 mbps) access is provided.

You'll have your own keys to the apartment.

**** NOTES ****

. If you need room for more people, I may have other options available to offer.

Thanks for reading!

Interaction with guests

I speak fluent english an spanish, and a little french. I work variable hours in the living room as music teacher, and I'll do my best to make you feel home!

. Musicians are welcome to have a little jam if they feel in the mood: there are two achoustic guitars and a piano in the house! . We can also arrange some guitar lessons if you want to learn how to play bossa nova or samba :)

Other things to note

**** MUSIC TIPS ****

Interested on brazilian music? Take a 2 block walk to Toca do Vinícius, a famous CD and DVD store dedicated to Vinícius de Moraes, one of the great Bossa Nova songwriters. You'll find a huge vintage selection of Bossa Nova vinyl LPs and CDs, songbooks, books and a small museum on the second floor. There's live music outside on the sidewalk one sunday a month.

Go check Bip Bip, a small storefront bar in Copacabana near Arpoador where well known local musicians drop by for informal jam sessions. By a beer and listen to good quality Bossa Nova, Samba or Choro for free all week long.

Ricardo was one of the easiest hosts to arrange everything, we experienced ultimate privacy even though we rented a room only, so sometimes it felt like we had apartment all to ourselves. He also helped us a lot with booking bus tickets to our next destination, so big thanks for that Ricardo once again. The apartment is perfectly located, exactly where you want to be in Rio, just a hop of the beach! Amenities are a bit more run down than the state shown in pictures, but we did not mind that. The room was clean, and there is a cleaning lady coming weekly if you stay like us for a bit longer (we stayed full month). One thing to watch out are the ants, I think this will be solved soon, but definitely do not bring anything in the room. For the majority of our stay we had slight internet problems, but Ricardo acted suberbly on that and managed to fix the issue by the time we left, so rest assured on that as well.

Ricardo has been very welcoming and friendly host. He gave us all the necessary information, took care of us during arrival and departure. The bed was big enough for 2 people and very comfortable. The doorman service 24h, supermarket and metro station 50m away and the Ipanema beach (400m) very of great advantage and made this place very attractive! We totally enjoyed our stay in Ricardo's flat!

Ricardo is a great host; very welcoming and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. He spoke excellent English as my Portuguese was very limited. And he is learning French. The location is excellent, just three blocks from Ipanema beach - and we just loved the atmosphere on the beach. Our bedroom window (in photo) looked out onto the steep hill of Morro do Pavão where we could easily see many birds and monkeys. And the bed is large and very comfortable. The room has a fan and an air conditioner, both of which we used at times. We had the use of the kitchen and living room but were hardly at home to take advantage of them. Ricardo provided some tourist literature and maps and gave us good tips about places to visit and restaurants/cafes to try.

Ricardo is very welcoming and has a lovely, clean apartment in a great location in Ipanema. It is 3 blocks from Ipanema beach, close to the metro and not too far from the lagoon. Despite its central location it is very quiet as the rear of the apartment backs onto a small hill. I would definitely recommend Ricardo as a host and hope to stay there again if I find myself back in Rio!

Beautiful host, beautiful apartment and beautiful room. You are very lucky if you get to stay her. It has everything you can asks for! Ricardo is interesting, considerate and helpful host. The apartment is perfectly placed at Ipaneme with everything you need in a walking distance. At the same time, it is also very quiet thanks to the hill on one side of the building. Once again, thank you for such a beautiful stay, Ricardo! Hope to see you soon again! : )

A lovely home, great location and a very friendly host. We had no issues whatsoever. Pity we couldn't have stayed longer but prices were steep shortly after world cup. P. S. Loved the old-school elevator.

We stayed with Ricardo for 3 nights in april/early may. The apartment is really well located, right in the heart of ipanema, 3 blocks from the beach and literally 1 minute from the metro. The apartment is also very secure, with 24 hour security. Ricardo himself is really welcoming and will help with recommendations and to make you feel at home. Can't remember the name but ask him for the cafe round the corner from the apartment, on the corner of the plaza, easily the best coffee we've had in South America, Italian run and with great food. The room was really spacious and the bed huge, sleeps 2 people very easily and is comfortable. The facilities are all clean and accessible so all in all its a really comfortable, convenient stay. Thanks Ricardo!!!
