Good for couples and solo adventurers who can navigate between Chipotle and Cipriani. Welcome to the "Flamptons". On the up and coming, while still slightly off the beaten path, this cottage is nestled between the North and South forks of Long Island. Famous for the Iconic duck. You get the best of both worlds with proximity to Vineyards and Beaches. A jewel of a surprise awaits as you reach the end of the dirt road.

The space

Private water front with unobstructed bay views.

Originally a 1950's captains cabin that has been updated but still has an eclectic charm. The galley kitchen is equipped for basic cooking with a stove, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and a mini Nespresso machine.
The main light filled living room is lined with windows and unobstructed views of Flanders bay. A small bay window with a cozy day bed is perfect for breezy afternoon napping and sunsets.
It butts up against wetlands.
There is a bluestone patio with a teak dinning table and two teak lounge chairs.
There is an outdoor shower, on the "not so" private neighbor side of the house. Still a great way to rinse off.

Guest access

2 kayaks you can use at your own risk. With two life vests. A small private sandy beach about 10 ft wide where you can enter the bay.
The beach is on a small inlet where boats frequently pass by to enter a small marina.

I totally support the earlier mentioned reviews! Dean’s captain’s cottage is located on a beautiful spot surrounded by a wonderful garden and an amazing view of the bay. I loved the cottage. It is very warm and stylish decorated and has all the amenities you can think of. The shower was great! I felt very much at home and wished I could bring the location and cottage back home with me to the Netherlands. Dean was also very helpful and answered all my questions immediately. The address wasn’t pulling up in my navigation system (Here), so I called Dean and he helped me to get to the cottage. Later I learned that I should have used Southampton as city instead of Flanders. Unfortunately, the TV didn’t work, because there was no signal. Dean explained to me that he needed the cable TV company to come out and that currently only Apple TV is available. This was a little disappointment to me since I was on my own. Fortunately, the Wi-Fi was very good, and I was very happy with the Bose music box and the small library with some really nice books and magazines! Although I didn’t use the oven and microwave, I tried to figure them out, but had no idea how to use them as they differed somewhat from the appliances I’m used to in the Netherlands. So, a short instruction manual would’ve been handy ;-) Overall, I loved my stay at Dean’s cottage and hope to come back someday!

What a sweet, snug, stylish little getaway this is, put together with taste and panache. The location--by the water, with lovely unobstructed views and easy access to the bay--is a dream. Dean, the owner, is a thorough gentleman: he responded to our queries with alacrity, and was helpful each time we contacted him. Everything was easy and painless. The house is compact, a perfect place for a couple to get away to, for romance, solitude, calm, quiet, absolute peace...The bed is delightfully comfortable and the shower has a magic force that has to be mentioned! The kitchen has everything one could need for a short stay and the WiFi is excellent. Total thumbs-up to this charming rental!

House is amazing; situated right on the bay at the end of a quiet little road. Peaceful spot. You can really see the stars at night. With that said, there's lots of stuff very close by and if you want to go to Southampton for lunch/dinner/coffee/whatever, it's about 20 minutes away. We ate in Southampton and Sag Harbor during our trip (30 or so minute drive to Sag Harbor). Home is decorated perfectly. Lots of gorgeous (and many very unique) items inside; classy and beautifully updated but also funky and fun in a great way (while still maintaining that class and beauty). Can't say enough about how much I loved the place. I visited with a friend who's 6' tall and he sleep in the daybed comfortably all weekend. The bathroom and kitchen are lovely; updated and fancy while still managing to feel like they being in this cool little beach cottage. Great water pressure in the shower. Ha I could go on all day; I wanted to buy the place! I will return with my wife ASAP.

We really enjoyed our visit to this cottage. The setting is amazing, with a beautiful water view terrific for relaxing and watching the sunset. The location also works great - easy to go up to the North Fork or go to beaches on the South Fork. We also visited the aquarium in Riverhead and rented a boat at a marina that was just 2 minutes away, plus the drive from the city is very manageable. The cottage is small but the kitchen and bathroom are both plenty big and very nice. Overall, it's a very quiet spot that I imagine would be perfect for spending a week working on your novel or unplugging from hectic day to day life in the city.
