This is a vacation rental that was formerly our own home until we outgrew it. It is an older home that has undergone some remodeling, expanding most all the rooms and updating a lot of the house (there's now a dishwasher, too!), and now making even better use of the spectacular ocean view. Lower winter rate starts in the later fall. It is right on the ocean, overlooking Pebble Beach in Crescent City (far northern California, near the Oregon border) with great views, and located by Redwood National Parks (within about 10 minutes or so, in several directions). There is a main house with 2 bedrooms (1 master bedroom with a queen bed, and one smaller bedroom with a queen bed and an older single pullout sofa sleeper that is twin-sized & better for kids than adults) and there are 2 bathrooms. The living room also contains a single-sized futon, and a couple couches, probably more preferable for kids rather than adults. Absolutely NO pets and no smoking allowed. There will also now be a modest cleaning fee, unless you wish to clean it up ready for the next guests yourselves...then let us know. [At some times of the year, there is also an upstairs separate studio apartment (above the garage, not above the main house) that can be added on to the house ($90 extra/winter rate, $95 in summer) for another queen bed and a twin-sized day-bed, plus an extra mattress if needed, with a great ocean view and a deck out in front. When available, the upstairs can also be rented alone if a small space is preferred--probably recommended (with set up) for about 2 to 3 guests. (In other words, the upstairs and downstairs are separately rented and can have separate entrances and parking areas--the upstairs-only parking and entrance are from the back of the house--and the two separate floors may on occasion be rented to two separate guests on any given night. There is a locking door between the main house and the stairwell to the upstairs, which can be unlocked if someone rents both floors.) Please NOTE: For the next several months, the upstairs is NOT AVAILABLE (in use already)--So only the main house is available for the time being.] Also, breakfast is NOT furnished as part of this vacation rental. We are just a few minutes (like 5 minutes) from most everything in Crescent City (stores, restaurants, airport, theater, etc.). This is a very safe and lovely area, and there are stairs right down to the beach, just across from the house. Thank you.
There is a shared washer/dryer area in the garage for both the main house guests and the upstairs apartment occupant(s) to use, as well as for the owner to utilize. The backyard is also a shared area. Please don't block the alleyway going from front to back of the property.
Interaction with guests
We live a few miles away and can usually be reached if needed. If we are not in town, we are normally reachable by call or text message, or will try to check our email messages as traveling allows.
Other things to note
The house has just a regular-sized, not-too-large water heater, so if you have a large group or like long showers, the hot water may not last through several people, and you may want to stagger showers or make them a bit quicker. Similarly, be careful not to plug in too many larger-drawing appliances into one wall (multiple wall heaters, etc.) or the circuit breaker may flip off (breaker box is inside the garage/storage area on the north wall--around the corner to the right if you need to find it). It's still basically an older home underneath it all!
NO pets. NO smoking. Please don't leave wet items on the hardwood floors, or scratch them by sliding furniture, etc. Many areas and some of the hardwood and other flooring are new, having been recently remodeled, so we ask that guests take especially good care of the new areas to keep them looking brand new. When you leave, please take all trash out to the garage area in bags or put in the trash can, if available, and wash your dishes, wipe off surfaces, and leave it nice, since the cleaning fee is quite low (I'm expecting people to "clean" after themselves, as much as possible). If you can get the used linens and/or towels started in the washer, that would be much appreciated. Main house guests should take care to not turn off back porch lights or deadbolt shared access areas such as the garage, in order to allow the upstairs guests who park in the back the ability to easily access the stairway to their apartment. Also, please don't block the alleyway on the right side of the house with cars or anything, as others may be using it for access to the back of the property and behind the rental. And do the best you can to not be overly loud or disturbing of neighbors or other guests in the upstairs or downstairs sections of the house. Thank you.
