Private use of a studio in our houseboat, a former cargo ship, bordering the 'Zeeburgereiland'. Within the ring road of Amsterdam, close to the city centre, natural areas and picturesque Dutch villages.
In just 15 minutes you can reach the central train station in the centre and on the (free to use) bikes it's a 10 minute ride to old Dutch villages like Durgerdam and Schellingwoude.
You are staying in the wheelhouse and the former captains home. A comfortable, bright room with modern facilities and the romantic atmosphere of a ship. You have a private entrance and can park your car for free next to the boat.
In short, the ideal starting point to discover Amsterdam and surroundings.
You enter the studio in the wheelhouse. There you will find a spacious seating area with lovely views over the water (the 'IJ') and the kitchenette. Small stairs lead you down to the living/bedroom, with a double bed (2 beds of 80 x 200 cm) and other furniture. There is a possibility for an extra person of at least 16 years old (chair transforms to 70 x 200 cm bed). You can watch or internet on smart tv (30 channels) or movies with the dvd player.
Bathroom with a shower, washbasin and toilet.
The kitchenette in the wheelhouse is equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and electric stove. Coffee and tea is available for free.
The studio is completely heated by central heating.

Possibility to sunbathe and barbecue on, and take a swim from, the terrace on the adjacent pontoon boat. This is the only thing you share with the owner of the ship.
Smoking is only permitted in the wheelhouse and on the deck. So not downstairs in the bedroom/living room!
Clothing can be washed and dried at an additional charge.
Our houseboat lies on one of the most beautiful moorings of Amsterdam. The site, situated in the 'IJ' and bordering the Zeeburgereiland, is completely renewed in 2013.
When you look North you have a view over the water and the village of Schellingwoude, in the West you can see the city, the East offers a view of the castle Muiderslot in the distance and in the South is a small nature reserve.
In summer you can take a delicious cooling dip from the terrace.
You can reach the city in 20 minutes (Central Station( in the centre of Amsterdam. From the Captains home the tram stop is 4 minutes by bike. The tram takes you within 10 minutes to the Central Station. For a small fee you can even take the bikes in the tram. From Central Station you are just a short walk away of the Royal Palace, the Jordan area, large and small shopping streets or the red light district. On a bike it takes about 30 minutes to reach the centre.
Our boat is also one tram stop away (or 15 minutes by bike) of Zeeburg in the Eastern Docklands area, the old port of Amsterdam where spices and coffee were supplied by ships. Most ships are now converted into houseboats. In addition, the Eastern Docklands area known for its modern architecture. Here are various shops, cafes and restaurants.
A day at the beach lies within reach at the beach pavilion Blijburg on IJburg, just 10 minutes away by tram. On IJburg are also nice restaurants and shops.
RURAL SURROUNDING AND DUTCH VILLAGES
By bicycle, which you can use for free during your stay, you are in no time in the picturesque village of Durgerdam. A village with 17th century wooden houses located on the dike which used to keep the 'Zuiderzee' at a distance.
Our location offers you the possibility to make beautiful cycle tours to the old Dutch fishing villages of Marken and Volendam or the mills of the Zaanse Schans.
You can also use your own car or rental car to explore the area or the rest of Holland, because you can park the car free of charge next to our boat. Half an hour's drive from Amsterdam, for example, is the largest nature reserve of the 'Oostvaarders plassen'. Here lives one of the largest herd of wild horses from Europe, but also red deer, wild boar, white-tailed eagles, cattle, etc.
Close to our boat is the ' Landmarkt '. At this supermarket (and restaurant) you can buy your daily groceries, vegetables and fruit from the region, the best meat of Amsterdam and delicious fresh fish. These products are also prepared In their restaurant, where you can eat inside or on the terrace by the waterfront.

No party place. Peacefull neighborhood, no sound after 10:30pm
The captain's home is not suitable for disabled.
About using the toilet:
Besides normal use of toiletpaper don't put anything else in like sanitary napkins, facial wipes or otherwise. Then you will destroy the expensive sewerage pump.
Quiet ant peaceful area, not a party place. Keep our neighbours in mind if you are using the terrace outside.
In the event that the tenant causes damage to the property and/or the inventory, this must be reported immediately. The tenant accepts liability for all damage caused by him/her, even if such damage is ascertained after his/her departure. The tenant is not permitted to give other people permission to be on the property, except the co-tenants, without asking the lessor.
In the event that the tenant does not behave as a good tenant or is a nuisance to the neighbourhood, subsequent access to the property may be denied, and the rental agreement may be considered legally dissolved, without any rights to reimbursement of rent and/or deposit.
Tenant is on his own risk on, in and around the property of the lessor.
Booking the property is accepting the house rules.
From Dec 20, 2017 - Jan 04, 2018 the minimum stay is 5 nights.

We have two accommodations which we rent to guests The original captain's home that is converted into a comfortable studio, and (in summer) a beautiful antique motoryacht The Irene.
