Restored & updated c. 1890 Cajun/Creole Cottage on the bank of the historic Bayou Teche. In culturally rich Arnaudville LA. Original art, high ceilings, milkpaint, full kitchen. Access to major highways. Walk-able town and kayaking. Near Lafayette.

The space

The Sunset House at Les Deux Mondes is a fully restored and modernized traditional 19th century Cajun Creole farm cottage, which was moved from 20 miles away to her current location and is now overlooking the lovely Bayou Teche.
The restoration and updating respected her roots, yet has modern amenities. Sustainable techniques and materials were used when possible and practical, including traditional made-on-site milkpaint, tung oil varnished longleaf pine floors and recycled cellulose insulation. A gorgeous kitchen counter milled from a giant red oak log that was diverted from the landfill, as well as original artwork from local artists, give this house a comfortable and warm feeling.
The house also features a fully equipped kitchen (new electric stove, new fridge, new blender, new microwave oven, new toaster oven, programable coffee maker, wok, etc...) ceiling fans, and a central "mini-split" unit, which provides quiet air conditioning and heating throughout the house. In the bathroom, you will also find a washing machine, an iron with an ironing board, and a hair dryer.
You can relax on the porch which overlooks some edible landscaping and the beautiful Bayou Teche.
This truely lovely home speaks across generations.
Available locally:
- Local art work, events, dance, music, potlucks, French tables, quilting, ... around the corner at the NUNU Collective

This house was perfect! We decided to rent the house last minute due to a hurricane approaching New Orleans. Tony responded quickly and could not have been nicer. The house is precious and is perfect for a group or family get away. It's location is right in town so easy access to the grocery, farmer's market and restaurants. It was unanimously decided that we'd definitely return!

Awesome host, cute little house, great value! Tony is easy to get ahold of, if needed. He added little touches here and there which definitely goes above and beyond. Tony brought the ingredients for French toast to the house before we arrived so we had breakfast in the morning, which was much appreciated after driving all day!!

Wow, what a great cottage! It's one of those places where you wish you could stay a bit longer. The cottage is clearly a labor of love, and it is easy to appreciate what was put into restoring it. Tony was the best host, went above and beyond what I would expect in hospitality. It's a rural area, but plenty of things to keep us busy.

Response from Tony:
Thank you for the suggestion. We'll be sure to remove all food stuffs in the future. I hope the swamp tour was everything you hoped it would be.

Cute house with a lot of fun things close by! Have to say that I came with no expectations and the house was nice, fridge was stocked, and Tony was very responsive to questions. The art collective nearby is quite cool and the brewery is a fun time with live music on Saturday.

Tony and his cottage were everything we could have asked for. Tony was incredibly welcoming and solicitous-- he gave us a full, detailed tour of the properties (as about the paint!), shared restaurant recommendations, and even picked up a bag of crawfish for us to have for lunch. And the cottage is perfect: it has an amazingly well-outfitted kitchen, comfy beds, and a perfect little porch overlooking the Teche. We can't wait to go back!

thanks for your friendly welcome. The fridge had everything we needed for the first breakfast, even for a good salad on the evening. It felt like home. I will definitely recommend and come back to your place. Love the view on the bayou. Merci.
