About this listing

Your room is in a lovely stone terrace right on the edge (but amazingly 5 minutes from the centre) of Kendal. There is leafy Serpentine Wood and grassy walks right outside our back gate, and winding steps to the town centre from the front. There are great views across Kendal's rooftops to the hills beyond and easy access to the main road route into the Lake District, or the M6 motorway north or south.

The space

Your room is light and spacious with a comfortable king size bed and cotton bedding. While the room is usually mine, there is plenty of space to make it your own (drawers and storage, a rail to hang your clothes and a desk etc). There are some books and magazines on the shelf (which you are welcome to read); a kettle; and there will be fresh organic milk, along with a selection of tea and coffee.

Towels, bed linen, hair dryer, universal travel adaptor and a hot water bottle are also provided.

Wireless broadband is available and use of a computer may be possible if requested prior to booking. We also have a small collection of DVDs which you are welcome to watch (although you will need your own laptop/dvd drive to do this).

Guest access

We have a beautiful, if a little rustic bathroom, with roll top bath and a great shower, and you are welcome to use any of the natural products left out on the bath. You are also welcome to use our cosy sitting room, with wood burning stove and plenty of logs.

Interaction with guests

I'd be really happy to suggest local walks, mountain bike routes and places to eat and visit if you'd like any ideas. We have most maps for the local area and a few guidebooks which you are welcome to borrow too while you’re here.

Other things to note

The quirks.. we have a cat (Rosie) and a dog (Skye). Rosie we aim to avoid in the bedrooms but she may wander in if the door is left open. Skye, remains downstairs but does crave attention so can get a little over excited when people first arrive, sometimes with some brief barking, but really, she is very gentle and calms down quickly.

Also, I'm afraid our kitchen is out of action for guests as we are awaiting some building work to begin. Can provide crockery and cutlery if this is needed and access to a shared fridge.

Amy was a great host, she provided clear and useful directions and was there to welcome us and help us settle in. The room was spacious and nicely presented, and helpfully included tea/coffee and a flask of milk. Parking is a bit more challenging, but we still managed to find a space close to the house and it's location close to the town centre (5 mind down the hill) perfect. Definitely recommended.

I had a lovely stay at Amy's, her room and home were perfect in every way. The lovely little touches of flowers in the room with a great selection of tea, coffee (and cafetière) and a wee jar of biscuits was greatly welcomed. The room was very comfortable with lovely features, especially the view over the hills whilst drinking my morning cup of tea in bed! If I'm back down in Kendal, I will definitely be booking a room there again.

Amy was very welcoming and friendly. The room was immaculately prepared with everything listed and all the information we needed. The view is beautiful and there are numerous places to go and things to see within in easy driving distance.
