Guest access

Our entire house and gardens will be yours, (except the stables which are let separately and the cottage in the yard where wonderful Ola, our part time caretaker lives with her family).
There are many fields to roam in, (but when cattle, sheep or ponies are grazing during the summer months access into those particular fields is restricted).
Careful country manners are required everywhere, and all gates must be closed, and dogs kept on a lead when near the animals.
Clean dogs are welcome in the house but not encouraged upstairs.
Please say if you would like to arrive before 5pm or a late evening welcome.

Interaction with guests

You will be welcomed on arrival and shown around, and a phone number or a problem busting visit is always available to you 24/7. Our part time caretaker Ola and her husband and son live in the cottage in the farmyard. Ola will not be working during your stay but they can provide you with advice and perhaps babysitting or dogsitting etc on request.
We can introduce you to a local husekeeper, cook, cleaner, driver etc should you wish extra help to smooth your way.

Other things to note

The usual family equipment and some inside and outside games and toys, including table tennis and table football are available for your use.

We have bedspaces for 16/17 and can sometimes squeeze in an extra child or two - please do not book for more than 17 people without asking first.
This is our family home of over 25 years. We would want any guests to treat it as if it was their home.
Ola, our lovely part time caretaker and her family live across the yard so reduced noise at night is important.
There are cattle, sheep and ponies grazing in some of the surrounding fields during the summer months, meaning that access to the fields where they are grazing is not allowed for safety reasons.

Charlie and Amanda are the perfect hosts and I along with my family and friends who stayed at their beautiful, idyllic house were overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity. The three families that stayed had 7 boys between us ranging from 9-15 years of age and all of them loved the "Swallows & Amazons" adventures swimming in the lake, camping in the Yurt and having the most glorious of long weekends. We can not wait to go back and are desperate too keep this wonderful place a secret.

Charlie and Amanda's farm house is a very special place to stay - it offers space, comfort and a touch of quirky magic. We were a group of 17 people ranging in age from 4 to 80 years old, and the house (plus grounds) provided something for everyone. We loved the artwork, the peace, the room sizes, the ponds, the yurt, the amazing kitchen and the views of the beautiful countryside.

It's difficult to add anything to the reviews that have gone before - Amanda and Charlie's home is a slice of heaven. It is comfortable and has an incredible ambience - every space makes you feel instantly at home and relaxed. Our party consisted of 6 children, aged 2 months to 6 years, and 4 couples. Each family had there own bathroom and it was difficult at times to find anyone - despite the size of our group! We left the house just once during our stay to have lunch in the local village and the rest of the time easily amused ourselves at New Park Farm - the grounds are fabulous and we made good use of the lakes for boating and swimming. My daughter did not want to leave! Would recommend without hesitation!

We have just returned from a few days staying at New Park Farm with a group of friends. The farmhouse was stunning and in a beautiful location. It is such a lovely home, with lots of rooms and wonderful grounds to explore. The yurt and boating pond is a nice touch. The house has everything you could possibly need and is decorated beautifully. You can even watch the sun set from the garden. Although in a secluded location, it is close to towns and amenities. We would love to stay again and would reccommend this place to everyone.

It’s hard to know where to start with a review like this; we want to do justice to the idyllic bit of England that is New Park Farm, but also keep it a bit of a secret to ourselves. It was the ideal place for us to bring together family from different parts of the world for reunion, relaxation, and memories that will last forever. We felt at home from the start with a warm welcome from the housekeeper, who was a good point of contact throughout our stay. There is an incredible range of living spaces available: A large and well-equipped kitchen with an Aga, an impressive drawing room with a prebuilt fire, a profusion of bedrooms with spectacular views, and all manner of games and equipment for recreation (table tennis, giant Jenga, table football, Xbox, chess, draughts, cards, books of every possible variety, and so on). You will find all the appliances and supplies you need on hand, from wellies to laundry soap. If your plans include entertaining formally, there is a striking dining room that will accommodate a large party. While the home itself is gorgeous and met all our needs (from a three year old to a 93 year old!), the core attraction of New Park Farm is its incredible outside spaces. There is a true sense of arrival going down the lane and arriving at the farmhouse, with Somerset unfolding at every angle in extensive views. We held a birthday party in the yurt down by the pond, which—beyond the ground floor bathroom, with contains the best panoramic ‘throne view’ in all of England—is a magical space that sets New Park Farm apart as truly unique. There is a real sense of privacy and seclusion at this property, but you’re no more than a short drive away from shopping and modern comforts. As we sat down to write this review as a family, we found ourselves struggling with many superlatives—so many that we risked losing all credibility. Therefore, we will let The Bard relay our final impression: This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself... ...This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England. Suffice it to say, we have already checked to see if New Park Farm is available for Christmas . . . and sadly, not. Next year!

We have just got back from a wonderful wonderful weekend break with the family (15 of us.) The weather was a bit hit and miss but it didn't matter as the house is huge and we had plenty to do. We played table football, table tennis, lots of board games and had huge meals in the dining room. The grounds just go on and on, we played rounders in one of the fields and took the boats out quite a few times. Amanda was very attentive and helped a lot with any advice we needed on the area over messenger and was available by phone whilst we were there. There are a lot of nice walks to do around the area and a local dairy to buy milk and eggs, the town of wincanton is very nice too. The house is spacious, cosie and warm in beautiful surroundings. I'd recommend it to anyone.
