A beautiful 300 year old French farmhouse and separate cottage overlooking the Dordogne river and close to the medieval town of Bergerac and the vineyards and wine routes of Bordeaux. The cottage is newly refurbished with 3 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, (2 en suite) fabulous fully fitted kitchen with large range cooker and utility room, dining room, sitting room and grounds of 6 acres including a massive heated pool (from April) and river frontage.

The space

Les Sources is the main house and La Petite Source is the cottage. Both houses overlook the river. These could be let together for larger family groups. The main house has 5 double bedrooms with 4 bathrooms ( two en suite) and loads of room and is fully fitted out. There are 6 acres of grounds and the entrance is down a long drive. There is a small lake to the front of the house and lots of fruit trees including fig and peach in the grounds. The pool has a lovely summer kitchen and eating area with barbecue. The pool has 8 high quality sun loungers and parasols. Pool towels are provided. The pool is heated between May and September.

Guest access

You will have full access to the cottage which is completely self contained. There is one room (with a 6 ft four poster bed) on the ground floor with a shower room. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. One has a double bed and a separate single bed and the other a 5 ft king size bed (English sizes). There is also a separate fold away bed if required. There is private off-street parking. You will have full access to the pool, all the gardens, outside eating area by the pool and a terrace overlooking the river outside the cottage. There are bikes, table tennis and pool toys.

Interaction with guests

We occasionally stay at the main house and, if we are there, will be happy to help but will not intrude. If we are not there, we have someone who will be available to help who lives about 10 minutes away.

Other things to note

Although we do not wish to discourage children from enjoying Les Sources, parents wishing to bring children should be aware that the house is on the banks of the river. Although It is only accessible by walking down a long path, and the river is quite shallow especially in the summer, it does pose a risk for younger children who cannot swim. Caution needs to be taken in terms of keeping any eye on them with regard to both the river and the pool.

Great place, exactly as advertised we had an incredibly relaxing week in the sun. Pool is amazing and house has everything you could wish for, with an especially well equipped kitchen to practice all the tasty French cuisine. Paul and Jane were staying in the main house whilst we were there. Not only were they very helpful but they consciously avoided being intrusive. All in all a fantastic place to stay!

Jane and Paul were fantastic hosts. We had a wonderful family holiday in Le Fleix, and will definitely return. The house is beautifully appointed, with lots of small touches to make you feel at home (adapters, books, DVDs, table tennis table, and many other essentials!). The location is excellent in terms of visiting the Dordogne region, but the house itself is invitingly set on the banks of the river for perfect summer evenings with a glass of rose. Thoroughly recommended.

What a stunning gite in a stunning location where everything you could need for a relaxing holiday is provided. Peace and tranquility but with the reassurance of your hosts being only a phone call away if you needed any assistance or advise on the area. Plenty to see and do around the region, whether you go over to Bordeaux or Bergerac or sample the local Sunday market in the picturesque village of Issigeac, or alternatively just enjoy a pleasant drive through the local vineyards and stop off at a chateaux or two.

I definitely recommend to stay at "les petites Sources". Paul, the owner, stayed in the main house during a few days. A pleasure to talk with a "Gentleman". "Les petites Sources" where we stayed is as described!! no doubt about it ;o) Thank you Paul (and Jane) Francois

This is a beautiful house in a beautiful position on the banks of the Dordogne. It is just newly renovated and finished to the highest spec and the garden and pool area are wonderful. The pool is enormous and heated which is a real treat. It is a great base for exploring the Dordogne and very well equipped with bikes, table tennis table and BBQ for wonderful alfresco evenings on the riverbank. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Great place for a family get together as lots of outdoor space.

We've lived in our beautiful 500 year old house for 20 years now and the children grew up here and had a wonderful time in the 5 acres of grounds and outhouses. We have also just bought a beautiful old riverside house and cottage overlooking the Dordogne near Bergerac in France that we also share with guests. We run a commercial and residential interiors business (Karavan) and, hopefully, our houses both in the UK and in France reflect this. They are beautifully appointed with top quality, stylish furniture and accessories.
