Completely private home with pool and gorgeous garden, the house of the Eternal Spring invites family and friends gatherings amid colorful bougainvilleas, luscious local plant varieties, in a quiet surrounding. Perfect for a long vacation get-away.
The house was build by my father-in-law (RIP), who was a civil engineer, in typical Mexican colonial style, using cantera (quarry) stone ionic columns, red terracotta stone floors, and heavily fortified stone walls. The private house of the eternal spring, so-called for its luscious garden plant variety evident all year long, includes private and secure parking for two automobiles, a newly remodeled full kitchen and bathroom, three guest rooms, including a master bedroom with private bathroom, and a common area with bar.
But the heart of the home is its terrace which includes the wonderful garden and the small and tranquil unheated pool (water temperature oscillates between 73-81 Fahrenheit all year long). There is a grill in the back to cook at your heart's content. You will be in complete privacy, as the home is surrounded by high walls.
While I do not live here, my wife and I visit several times a year and thoroughly enjoy the greenery and peaceful surroundings. However, my sister-in-law, who is a long-time Cuernavaca resident, will make sure you're welcome at check in and will gladly answer any questions you may have before leaving the place to yourselves.
When here, you will truly feel as Maximilian the Emperor did, namely that spring is truly eternal.
Guests will be welcome by my sister-in-law, Stella, an ophthalmologist by traning, who lives in Cuernavaca, and who can provide invaluable local and cultural information. She will show you the house and answer any questions you may have. After that, you will have complete and unlimited access to the home, including the private, unheated pool.
Interaction with guests
I will always be accessible online, and should anything arise that may require local intervention, my sister-in-law will provide assistance. By and large, however, we will respect your privacy and allow you to enjoy the house and the wonderful Cuernavaca weather.
Other things to note
This is a house where my in-laws resided for many years after they move out of Mexico City. We have now decided to make it available to airbnb guests, and we are rather flexible with house rules. However, as we wish to have many guests for years to come, we must outline a few simple rules:
1. Smoking is only allowed outside.
2. Dogs are allowed, but please clean after them.
3. While this is a private residence, we request that you keep noise to a minimum after midnight, specially on weekdays. Common courtesy goes a long with with the neighbors.
4. We recommend that you lock the door every time you step out of the house, even if it's for just a few minutes.
5. We kindly request that you treat the home with the same love and care as you would your own home. Remember, this is still somebody's place once you leave.

I'm originally from Mexico. I went to school on the West Coast (Stanford University) and then to post graduate school in Washington, DC and Milan Italy. I now live in DC and work in the high tech industry.
My wife works for an international environmental non-profit, and we have owned our current home since 2003. We are both ecologically conscious and easy-going.
We have two small dogs, a wonderful Cavalier King Charles and a tiny and playful Bichon Frisè who ARE members of the family.
In addition to being proud hosts (and I personally reply to each and every request), we also enjoy being airbnb guests whenever we travel. And we do all this because we enjoy meeting new and interesting folks. We therefore look forward to getting to know you as well.
