3 of us stayed here for a week during the world cup and had an absolutely amazing time! Sarah and her home are a perfect representation of why I love to use Airbnb. Sarah herself is a wonderful host, eminently helpful whether it be whipping up a breakfast or taking you out to dance forro at night. The house itself is very cozy despite the fact that is was super busy given the World Cup. The house is pretty open, so if you are looking for a romantic gettaway, you might ask her about her other more private apartment. Also, there is no hot water, but ive yet to stay at a place in Brazil with hot water (we were there during the winter and it was still 80 degrees most days) so no problem in my opinion. The best part about this place was meeting Sarah who started as a host but ended as a friend. Definitely give it a shot if you are looking for a delightfully Brazilian stay.

Originally from Oxford, England, I've lived in Pernambuco for most of my adult life, and enjoy the warmth, exuberance and beauty of Brazil's natural resources and people, in particular the diversity of local cutural expression at its peak in Olinda's carnival, to my mind the best in Brazil. I'm an interpreter and translator, with experience in ethnographic film-making, and a lover of the cinema. I devote much of my spare time and have a project for saveguarding and replanting mata atlantica, the much depleted coastal rainforest, through food forestry and family farming methods. But I always find time for circle dancing, creative dance, samba, maracatu etc! And I regularly practice Astanga Yoga.
