Situated in central Higashikawa in the heart of the beautiful Daisetsuzan National Park - home to Asahidake - our cozy studio apartment (fully licensed & legal) is an ideal base to explore Hokkaido from. Easy access to all major services, our place is perfect for couples & small families, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Great facilities & great location, close to Asahiyama Zoo & Biei (Blue Pond, Rolling Hills & Flower Farms). Just an hour to the ski slopes of Furano & Kamui.

The space

This wonderfully cozy studio has everything you should need for your stay, if you feel something is missing then please, give us a shout and we'll try and sort it out for you.
As you enter the apartment, the main space is through a door to your right.
The entrance itself has plenty of space for skis, snowboards, shoes and boots. In front of you there is a washing machine with a drying rack (free to use) and off to the left through another door you'll find the shower room and toilet.
So, let's turn right into the main room and work our way round in a clockwise direction. We have a small kitchen area that has a fridge/freezer, sink, microwave and a kettle. Tea and coffee are provided!
Then we have a nice long counter with very comfortable tall chairs, a great place for your morning coffee or updating your blog or even getting down to some work. There's a Bluetooth speaker above the counter. If you want to hook your phone/tablet up to it, go ahead! If the weather is good, you can even sit out on the small veranda for your morning brew. Next we have a large, queen sized bed. The whole bed can actually be folded away into the wall if you need/want more space. (maybe for that morning yoga session?!)
There's a small alcove with a full length mirror and plug sockets. Then we're onto a very ample/spacious closet. If you can't fit all your gear in there then you have too much! Stored in the closet there is a spare table and chairs in case you want to sit down for a meal, play some cards or write a letter the old fashioned way! That's it, we're back to the door!
You can hook up to the free Wi-Fi provided throughout the apartment.

Guest access

*PLEASE NOTE: Check in time is between 14:00 - 18:00*

The apartment is situated right behind our coffee shop - Roaster Coaster - It is completely independent of the shop and has its own entrance which can be accessed from the car park or the back street. On arrival please call in at the coffee shop for the key. We have plenty of off-road parking and even have a small garage too keep your bikes dry if necessary.

Interaction with guests

I own the coffee shop that is directly in front of the apartment and I spend a lot of time there! If you need anything just pop round and I or a member of my staff will do the best we can to make sure you get everything you need during your stay in Higashikawa.

Other things to note

As this apartment has a queen sized bed, it's perfect for couples, small families and solo travellers. However, one unique feature of our place is that the bed can easily be folded away completely into the wall. So if you wanted to come as a bigger group and don't mind using your sleeping bags and ground mats etc. Then get in touch as I'm sure we could arrange something.

Awesome place! The room is much bigger than the photos suggest and the place has everything you need. Comfy bed and pillows and we loved the Bluetooth speaker. Karl was super friendly and helpful and his coffee shop next door has great coffee and waffles. I recommend getting a choc chip frappe. A+

It was a nice location and inside of house was well coordinated. The coffee service was good and I enjoyed this time.

Karl is a friendly host who made the extra effort to receive us when we arrive. He explained and showed us around thoroughly and gave us complimentary coffee! Would have loved to visit his coffee store right around the corner if not for our tight schedule! Great and convenient location!

Cozy place complete with all the amenities one needs. Close to many good restaurants in Higashikawa, including Karl's own cafe! (Do check out Ezo Ramen and Rishiri Izakaya!)

The apartment is a nice self contained unit that's easy to find and near some excellent restaurants. It's also very quiet and contains most of the items one would expect from a short stay apartment. Karl is a good host, and his coffee shop offers up a very good coffee as well.

Hi! I'm Karl.
Originally from the UK, I came to Japan in 1999. I've lived in various places in Honshu but have finally settled down in Hokkaido. I own Roaster Coaster, a coffee shop and roasting house right in the heart of Higashikawa.
As they say in Japan.....Yoroshiku!
