The space

Quiet "dependance" in historical building A few steps from the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere and Isola Tiberina, this room is right in the heart of the city. All the sites of main interest are nearby. Piazza Gioachino Belli is also a minute walk distance. Here you have a big choice of taxis, buses or trams with direct lines to and from the three nearest train stations: Trastevere, Ostiense and Termini. The nearest metro station is the B line Circo Massimo (Fori Imperiali), 10/15 minutes walk. The house is located on the "Via della Lungaretta " in the side where is the Tiber Island compared to Trastevere avenue. -------------------------------- Our Directions: From Fiumicino airport (Leonardo da Vinci) you have two choises: 1 Take the train to "stazione Trastevere". Then tram 8 (towards piazza Venezia) and get off at Piazza Gioachino Belli (about 7 minutes ride). Ask for via della lungaretta towards "piazza in piscinula" and walk the street (a very short walk) to number 168 (you'll have it on your left). 2 Take the train to "stazione Termini". Then bus H, opposite the station, and get off at Piazza Gioachino Belli (about 10 minutes ride). Ask for via della lungaretta towards "piazza in piscinula" and walk the street (a very short walk) to number 168 (you'll have it on your left). If you arrive from Ciampino airport you have a bus (shuttle) to Termini station. Then change to a bus, number H. Get off in Piazza Gioachino Belli, Trastevere (the first stop passed the bridge). Ask for via della lungaretta towards "piazza in piscinula" and walk the street (a very short walk) to number 168 (you'll have it on your left). In any case, it takes about an hour an hour and a half.

Great location, nice and quiet with restaurants very close. Didn't meet Claudia, but her husband and son were very welcoming and hospitable. Would stay here again.

Trastevere is a lovely area in itself, but what was ideal (for me, anyway) was how central it was for visiting most of the Roman sites. If, like me, you like walking - always the best way to appreciate a new city - you'll find the big sites (Vatican, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Keats-Shelley House, Protestant Cemetery, Spanish Steps etc) within about 30 minutes walk. Coming from Fiumicino Airport, I got a train to Trastevere Station (every half-hour, takes 30 mins), then bought a BIT ticket (€1.50) at a local shop, and took the No.8 tram to 'Belli' stop (about 7 stops and 7 mins) and Claudia's is a mere 3 minute walk from there.

Hi Karl. Thank you for the very detailed review! And thank you for the chocolate, my son in particular appreciated it very much!

Perfect place to stay right in Trastevere. The room was very comfortable and close to transportation, restaurants, shops, and walkable distance to many of Rome's main attractions. The hosts were wonderful and made me feel safe and at home, which was important to me as a solo traveler. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay! The patio area is wonderful! The room was really nice and clean. Claudia was super friendly. You couldn't ask for a nicer host. The location was really cool. Lots of choices for food and drink within mere steps from the front door! One block from a tram and bus stop. Just two blocks from the Tiber river, with a ton of shops and restaurants set up for perusing. We walked to the Pantheon in about 12 minutes. And if you like cats, George, the neighbor cat is sure to pay you a visit. The sweetest cat you'll ever meet! We would not hesitate to stay here again!

This place is a little corner of paradise in the middle of beautiful Trastevere. I felt welcomed from the first time I stepped in and for the entire time I was there. The neighborhood offers many affordable restaurants and take outs, I have often had breakfast and dinner on the terrace outside my room, or simply walked to one of the many places to eat around there. One can easily walk to Roma antica from there or take transportation, the buses and trams are just a few min away. Lovely family, super nice and fun to be with. A shout out to the 9 year old son (G) who is the best kid in the world!! ;) I wish I stayed longer but I will certainly be back.

This is a lovely little oasis in the middle of Trastevere! Another review said it was better than you are thinking, and that's definitely true! Couldn't ask for a better location and easy host. Claudia was out of town but her son and husband, Massimiliano were very hospitable. Massimiliano speaks English, if anyone has anxiety about communicating. He even entertained my broken Italian. The cat George is indeed very nice, and will come up to you on the patio. The room is very quiet, and though very central is not loud like some of the rooms in Trastevere. It's perfect for one or two people. The patio is amazing and beautiful. There is a fantastic bakery across the street and up a few store fronts. There is a nice wine bar around the corner. This is very close to the number 8 tram which will get you to the Pantheon in three stops, and any number of busses. Oh! And the water pressure is great! The bed is comfortable, firm, not sagging at all. There is air conditioning too! But a fan is all I needed in May. Highly recommended. Lovely stay.
