The perfect spot. Really straightforward drive, good directions, close (in car terms ) to EVERYTHING you might need. If you are coming to the region for a hike, a paddle, a fish, a climb, like that, Kris is the best possible host for you. Extensive local information in his guest book and his trail-guide head. Kris is a really good at sharing both his home and his passion for the land and water. If you are coming for work/school/ other, the wifi and that is strong and the room, home and surrounds are great. Like a secret piece of deep country in a suburban cul-de-sac. Back porch, front porch, short walk, forest walk, you pick. GENUINELY COMFORTABLE BED, and I have a cranky spine. Great sleeping room, huge windows. Also great: a cupboard in the kitchen for my food, ample fridge space, coffee in the morning. Private bathroom clean, well-stocked, enormous soft bath towel. A warm, intelligent, delightful welcome. True hospitality. All this....and chickens !!!

Kris opened his home up with open arms. Friendly, kind and helpful -- we even ate eggs from Kris' chickens. One of the perks is sitting on the back porch in the late evening -- and we were coming back late every night -and just relaxing in front on the fire pit - talking about life. Thanks Kris for a great place to put our tired bodies while in Kerhonkson.

Terrific place with a terrific host. The place is better than the pictures. Modestly-sized room with lovely woods views. Very clean, and very comfortable bed with private bath just steps down the hall. Powerful fan if needed. In a quiet, secluded wooded setting but still close to the main road (Route 209). Kris was responsive at all times, friendly, and very organized. He made his chickens' eggs & his Keurig coffeemaker available for us to make breakfast when we were ready, was available to be social or not, and his porches are very relaxing places to be. He even left out a book to read that he thought I might enjoy, knowing my profession (and I did!). Our only regret is not having more time to talk about our shared interests in the outdoors.

This was our 2nd visit to Kris home. He is ultimate host, makes us feel right at home. House is cozy, and was the perfect for any one who want to enjoy nature. The house had a great fire pit which faces the woods , its talking point of all great adventures Kris has been through. Would definitely recommend to any one.

Kris User ProfileKris is a superhost.

I try to live a simple life, with simple pleasures, and some awesome outdoor adventures. I worked for many years as a NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation fisheries biologist and am now a licensed outdoor guide, certified in hiking, canoeing / kayaking, camping, hunting and fishing. I have travelled extensively in the US, having spent at least a night in every state (except North Dakota). I have thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (Maine to Georgia), The Long Trail (Canada to Massachusetts) and paddled a canoe from Burlington, VT down to Long Island. My home is a comfortable, clean and relaxing place for you to call home while you explore the region or just sit on the back porch and watch my chickens run around in the backyard while we tell stories.
