Private cabin 1 mile from Yellowstone NE entrance. PLEASE NOTE: Hi-speed Internet and cell providers will not service the area. This is a rugged, isolated, wilderness environment. Suitable for those seeking solitude and quiet. This is a retreat experience. Includes made to order breakfast, famous since 1937. NO WATER INSIDE. Detached private shower-house, renovated July, 2017. Please check "house manual" upon confirmation for your door code or ask in the Cafe.

The space

Stunning mountain setting 1 mile from Yellowstone. Near Lamar Valley.

Additional guests, up to 2, are $25/night including breakfast. Each original log cabin has 2 double beds. Furnished in rustic Western Americana decor. The cabins are dry with no plumbing or water or toilets. There is a detached private shower house just next to the cabins about 20-30 feet away, shared by 2 cabins. All the buildings have heat and modern interior updates. There is no cell service, internet, television or landline available in our cabins. We allow 1 well behaved dog/ cabin.

Silver Gate is special. Consider us your simplicity stop. Here you have everything you need and nothing you don’t. Clear sparkling mountain water. Clean and comfortable shelter in an original log cabin. Healthy nourishing meals, crafted with love from ethically sourced foods, most of them local. You will enjoy resources here in greater abundance than most people around the world, who often struggle to survive each day. Discover what’s important. In Silver Gate you find something different: simplicity for the sake of being simple. Nothing more, but always more than enough.

Technology service providers won’t come here, we have no wifi. no cell service. We sometimes don’t have electricity.

These “depravations” point us to higher blessings within ourselves and all around us. Sure, you might miss the cell service and high speed internet, but deep within you know the truth. You don’t need those things, especially not on vacation.

Join us. Rattle your cage, jump out of the box holding you back. it could be your tv, your phone, your computer. Whatever it is, you won’t find it not here.

Here you’ll find another way to freedom through simplicity. You can take a compass bearing in our log box, but it will give you the same reading it gave in 1937, long before the internet or cell. The map you'll follow to and from Silver Gate will only affirm a truth you already know from within. Break free. Slow down. Enjoy.

Absolutely gorgeous cabin in perfect location for dusk & dawn trips to the Lamar Valley for amazing wild life viewing. Previous reviews talked of problems with ramp into cabin & carpet in bathroom - both of these have been fixed - new looking small single step up into both & tiles now on floor of bathroom. Had a small issue with room not being ready when I arrived, but quickly sorted by the workers at the cafe so didn't affect my stay too much. Sadly I didn't get to meet the owner.

This was a great place to stay while taking a quick trip to Yellowstone! The cabin was so cozy and the bath house was very convenient and private. We really enjoyed the food at the cafe. Definitely a great spot for a first time visit to Yellowstone.

THIS VIEW! Just outside Yellowstone National Park, we rolled into the Silver Gate. We came at the end of the season at the first of October, so most of the places in town and Cooke City were closed, but it didn't matter. We LOVED the food at The Log Cafe. They really put a lot of effort into their options and recipes - locally sourced, organic and other great options. We were blown away. The cabins were warm, cozy and just what we wanted. We would definitely recommend this to anyone!

This is a really cool place to stay for the adventurer looking for a good meal and a warm bed. Conveniently located near the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. My wife and I stayed here a couple years earlier before airbnb and knew what to expect. The cabins are nice and clean, the shared bathroom is a bit inconvenient, has a tiny door and could use some updates like a shower curtain that fits better. You will be sharing the bathroom with the seasonal staff (who are very friendly) that live here as well. The food at the restaurant is good, but not as good as we remembered from our prior visit. Breakfast is included in your stay, so get an early bite and head out to Yellowstone which is about a quarter mile drive down the road.

The location of this cabin is AMAZING if you are going to visit Yellowstone. It is near the north entrance and took us 5 minutes to reach the park. The cabin itself is comfortable, quiet and toasty. I get cold very easily and slept SO WELL in this cabin under the thick, fresh smelling blanket. The bed is a bit spring-y but our cabin had 2 beds so I made my husband sleep in the second bed since I am such a light sleeper. The bathroom and shower is separate from the cabin but very close by and the grounds are well lit. I am terrified of the dark and I had no issues going to the restroom at night by myself (I know, I am such a big baby). The biggest bonus about our stay was the complimentary breakfast at the Log Cabin Cafe. The food is delicious and I appreciated the friendly staff and the vegan options!

Great location to be away from the crowds at Yellowstone. The breakfasts were delicious and lots of food. This is a rustic cabin with shared bathroom. The cabin was comfortable; the shared bathroom was not as clean as I would have liked.

Great property with easy access to Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding national forests. You get the rustic log cabin feel with creature comforts (electricity and running water) nearby. I am in the area a lot and the Log Cabin Cafe cabins will definitely be high on my list of places to stay next time I pass through Cooke City/Silver Gate.
