Entire country house with heaps of outdoor space. Vineyard next door, creek at the back, no neighbours. Amazing location if you're into wine, concerts & food, or just want to chill out.
Mt View is the range which forms the edge of the Hunter Valley. Away from the touristy buzz, but go a few minutes drive down the hill to get to some of the most amazing cellar doors and restaurants. Pokolbin is on one side, and Wollombi & Broke the other. Grab some wine, and come back & relax.

The space

There are three bedrooms:
Bed 1) 1 x double bed
Bed 2) 2 x single beds
Bed 3) 1 x double + bunk bed (2 singles)

There is a living room with a couch and a few arm chairs. The TV has a DVD player with some kids DVDs. There is a fireplace which is pretty nice to chill out in front of.

In the kitchen, there is:
- a fridge / freezer
- cooking stove (electric hotplates)
- microwave oven and small round convection oven (there is no conventional oven under the hotplates)
- kettle
- various appliances like a toaster, sandwich grill etc

Outside there is a BBQ area, and some more chairs to lounge around on.

There is a gas BBQ - to turn it on make sure you press down the capacity dial on the gas tank. There is also an outdoor cooking area, with some grills and outdoor cooking gear like cast iron pan etc. Please check bush fire alerts, and be sensible and take care especially on windy or very hot days.

Guest access

You can explore the creek at the back of the house- that paddock is part of the house. Go out the back gate into the paddock, cross the creek and climb to the top of the hill (up to the fence line). Just remember to close any gates- at certain times of the year we keep cattle there.
There are plenty of animals if you look carefully - from Platypus, Monitors and Eels in the creek, Wedgetail eagles above and of course plenty of Kangaroos and Wallabies. There is a family of Kangaroos that have developed quite a taste for grape vines - they spend their days munching on our neighbours vines, and then sleeping it off in the sun in the paddock behind the house.

Interaction with guests

Our house is a bit further up the valley, and please give us a call on the landline if there are any issues or questions. The phone number is written on the phone in the living room. If a small voice answers the phone, just be persistent, don't listen to their bad jokes, and ask for Ben or Sarah.

Other things to note

This part of the Hunter was originally a volcano, and the valley the house is in was the Caldera (the bit in the middle). If you look carefully, you'll probably find some fossils of bones, plants and sea creatures. On the hill behind the house there is a large wombat hole- he/she seems quite good at unearthing interesting rocks.
The valley we're in was all one farm (Yarramie), and gradually subdivided. This house was the original farm house (since renovated).
There is only patchy mobile reception since we're in a valley, and no Wifi. That might be a good thing or a bad thing. If you need to make a call or check messages, go back up Mitchells Rd and you will start to get reception.

Ben and Sarah's house is a great place to stay in when you want a weekend stay in Hunter Valley for some rest and relaxation, and some taste of the great wines they have there. It's an excellent choice also if you want to get away from the busy city life as the surrounding area is very quiet and secluded. Thanks for hosting us!

Fantastic stay! Our group loved this secluded spot with a beautiful creek at the bottom. There are no shops nearby so Ben made sure we were stocked up with tea, coffee etc. Beds were clean and comfy and it was great bringing our pooch along who loved running around the yard Water was nice and hot and we used the webber bbq Overall a perfect stay and would come again. Thanks Ben!

Beautiful spot! We loved the house, especially the open plan living with the fire place. The six of us found it roomy and comfortable. Definitely somewhere to keep coming back.
