Located in Playa Grande, Cahuita; 2 1/2 kilometers from Cahuita Town and Cahuita National Park and a 3 minute walk to the beach. Experience the allure of the jungle, lull yourself to sleep with the sounds of the ocean and wake up to monkeys and exotic birds.

The space

The cabina has two matrimonial beds, kitchenette, private bathroom and living area. There are ceiling fans, one inside the cabina and one on the porch. Enjoy the cool breeze while you relax in the hammock or rock in the rocking chair. Kitchenette includes two burner stove top, Tico coffee "sock", mini fridge and plates, cups, utensils, pot and pan, plus bottled water. There are two restaurants within walking distance (one during low season) and a small family-owned grocery store. The Reggae Bar on Black Beach is just a kilometer down the beach road. Wifi is available in your cabina, most of the time. It tends to stream faster in the morning and evening. We asked the techs why we get a stronger signal at certain times of the day and they smiled and said, "well you do live in the jungle"...enough said.

Guest access

Each cabin has a "pila" where you can wash out your beach clothes and hang them up in the back yard. Enjoy the jungle paths in and around our property; check out our fruit trees, indigenous plants, and gardens. Watch the monkeys hang out in the yard, spot sloths lazily hanging in the trees, or listen to exotic birds! It is a three minute walk down the path to the beach, a 5-10 minute walk to the Tree of Life Animal Rescue Center, and a 15-20 minute bike ride to Cahuita.

Interaction with guests

We have bikes for our guests who want to explore the area in the typical mode of transportation for Ticos. We are also happy to pick you up at the bus stop, and give you a ride somewhere if you need one. If you are looking for things to do, ask us! We have some favorite spots we will be happy to recommend.

Other things to note

We also live on the 2 acre property. So we are close when you need us! We have one other cabin on the property, Cabina Mandarina. We are in the process of building a hostel in the back of the property. While we are still busy with this project the price on this post reflects a 25% discount off our normal rate.

Loved staying in our little jungle cabin. Cynthia and Juniee were so helpful and collected us from bus station late at night. They lent us bikes to ride into town which was a great help. It was a bit further than we had anticipated but good for our exercise regime. Bring bug repellent as they are very active ( it's jungle after all). Good nets over beds. Ceiling fans were ok but can still get very warm in room. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Pura Vida

We loved our stay at Cynthia and Juniee's place. The bungalows are good sized and come with kitchen and all you need to self cater. Wake up to the sounds of howler monkeys and lots of different birds. Close to Playa Grande and not to far from Playa Negra. Cynthia and Juniee are very welcoming hosts and make sure you have an enjoyable stay. We would definitely stay again and recommend to all.

Cynthia and Juniee both went out of their way to make our experience the best. Cahuita is a beautiful little town away from all the city hustle, perfect place to relax. The Cabina had everything that we needed, we were very safe, and it's located right in the jungle. I was with my 2 year old and she had an amazing time as well. I would stay again at the place in a heartbeat!! Everything in the description is accurate. Such a beautiful place!

Cynthia and Juniee's place is just as advertised. It is a great place for budget travelers, who are not expecting fancy accommodations. As clearly stated in the description, this is in the jungle, and therefore jungle creatures are everywhere. It is walking distance to two small restaurants, a local grocery store type shop, and a beautiful, fairly uninhabited beach. The town of Cahuita is walkable (though a bit farther away), but the hosts provide bikes should you choose to use them. What really made our stay special was the extent to which Cynthia and Juniee went out of their way to help us make the most of our stay. They gave us great advice for activities to do in the area. Juniee drove us to and from the bus terminal, as well as to the Jaguar Rescue Centre. Cynthia helped us book different things while we were there, and each of them were available at any time to chat and help us out. We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to friends and any one else looking to stay in Cahuita. Thank you so much for everything, Cynthia and Juniee, your place was lovely!

Loved the closeness to nature, unique experience, not normal concrete vacation, have to be adventurous and ready for roughing it out. Must have sturdy vehicle and good GPS.

We first visited Costa Rica in 2005 and fell in love with Cahuita. It is a perfect mix of Latino and Caribbean cultures and the diversity here is wonderful. We purchased our property and moved our family, grandchild in tow, to the jungle in 2015. We love being so close to the oce…
