Original Airbnb-style listing. A one-of-a-kind homestay experience. We treat every group as personal guests. Family-friendly farm in Fiordland. Free farm walk; milk a goat! Stargaze on a clear night - little light pollution here. We are a Japanese-NZer couple with children, on a farm 10 mins' drive out of Te Anau. Kitchen not available. Free gourmet breakfast. Dinner & homemade fresh ice cream with our family is available NZ$20pp. Guest bathroom access via the garage. Enjoy rural mountain views.

The space
No kitchen is available, but we provide hot drinks and hot water for you.

We aim to provide top-notch hospitality and a very warm and homely feel to your stay. Only 1 group stays in the 2 rooms at a time; no room sharing with strangers.
Original Airbnb style listing. A one-of-a-kind family, homestay experience.

The guest bathroom is downstairs near the guest rooms. (Toilet, shower, washbasin, washing machine.) Our family members use the 2 bathrooms upstairs so your bathroom will stay clean.

You will get 2 private adjoining lockable rooms to yourselves (8 beds total). Perfect for families and groups as well as individual travellers. (NO sharing with strangers so don't worry!)

There is a desk and chair suitable as a laptop workspace. A cozy sofa in the corner room with a double bed.

Switch off the busy city life for a while and fill your lungs with pure Fiordland air!

Enjoy stunning Fiordland scenery from our 23-acre farmlet. You can see Lake Te Anau if you walk a bit higher within our farm. There are no close neighbours so your children can run around outside and play loudly no problem.

Stroll around the farm and relax in the country. The house is 400 m up from the road and can't be seen from the road. The property is very private yet has an open feeling with peaceful farm and mountain views in all directions.

We are only 8-10 minutes' drive out of Te Anau which has supermarkets, 3 petrol (gas) stations, Mitre 10 (a popular hardware store), various restaurants, cafes and a medical clinic so you get to enjoy your stay in the country and still be close to all local amenities.

Guest access
No kitchen available for cooking.

Downstairs, outside (please shut gates to keep animals in). Please feel free to play the piano, or jump on the trampoline outside.

Please feel free to use the big silver fridge/freezer just outside of your rooms to store your food or drink.

Other things to note
We have no pets inside the house. Tombi the Border Collie stays outside, so do the goats and cows. No smokers in the household, so nobody smokes inside the house.

There is a big pond and other streams in some parts of the farm, so please make sure your young children walk around the farm with someone older at all times.

There's also a gap between the ground and the green water tank just by the guest room (there is a fence so it's safe from your room side) where children could fall in and potentially get hurt, so please instruct your young children to stay away from the big light green water tank.

Very safe and friendly. Walking on the road during daylight hours is fine as long as you stay on the side of the road and cars can see you.

Growing up in suburban Tokyo, all I knew was the busy city life. Spending 3 weeks in Brisbane, Australia, during the World Expo '88 literally opened my teenage eyes to a bigger world out there. I knew I had to come back to the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand, with its snowy peaks and millions of sheep, fascinated me. In a matter of a few months, I was back - this time in Auckland, New Zealand, as a high school exchange student. One year in New Zealand was way too short, so I stayed on and went to Christchurch for my remaining high school years. I ended up doing a degree at University of Canterbury, and that's where I met Neil. Born and bred in Christchurch, Neil had never been out of NZ or lived outside Christchurch. We graduated together in the mid-90s and married soon after. We have 4 boys and 4 girls. Our eldest son is now 24, and the youngest is 10. Our family and farm animals made a big move from Oxford near Christchurch to Te Anau near Milford Sound in August 2015. All of us instantly fell in love with Fiordland and have never regretted the move. We never get tired of the beautiful Fiordland mountain scenery around us. We love talking to our guests and showing them around our farm and animals (goats, cows, sheep and Tombi the Border Collie).
