Our house, a 5 minute walk from the beach area of Foz, is just perfect for a family or group seeking the seaside and other fantastic attractions Porto has to offer. With four bedrooms, it can accommodate up to 7 people comfortably.
The house, from the outside, looks like one of those standard Foz neighborhood houses built in the 1950's - an architect's idea of a safe, nondescript middle class abode. But when you step inside, you'll see we've created a beautiful, artistic living space that you'll be happy to call your temporary home. Teresa, with her designer's eye, has put lots of love and time into our home (see our other listing in Porto ) so we think you'll love it as much as we do. Little touches - like the two way fireplace, the gorgeous SMEG fridge, the converted attic with five skyward facing Velux windows and the beautiful hardwood floors - will make your stay in Porto extra special. We've lived here for over 20 years and are now ready to share it with our guests. Have a look at the photos and then come join us for a glass of Port wine!
You will have full access to all rooms in the house. Access to the house is through a front gate entrance. There is a long driveway in the interior, behind the gated entrance, that guests can use either for parking or if they wish, to set up an outdoor table. At the back is a private studio that may be in use but is totally independent of the house itself. Next to this studio there is a small garden/patio that may also be in use at the time you would be renting the house.
Interaction with guests
Our experience with ABnB is so much richer because of the contact we have with guests. We love sharing our local knowledge and helping out whenever needed. We've made many new friends through ABnB over a glass of wine or dinner, and we hope to continue that great tradition in our home.
Other things to note
The house is part of a larger duplex - the bottom half is owned by another family. Since we occupy the top, just know that there are two flights of stairs to get up to the house itself, so it may present difficulties for anyone with special disabilities.
This is our family home, so we want to share it with people who will take care of our things and keep the space clean and tidy.
Electricity costs are incredibly high in Portugal, so please be energy conscious when using electrical appliances, heating etc.
For smokers, we ask that you refrain from smoking in the bedrooms. Ideal is to smoke outside or on the kitchen veranda with a window open. This is in consideration of all guests who come to stay here, some of whom will be non-smokers.

Teresa and I have lived and travelled in many countries so we know how important it is to feel welcomed when arriving in a new place. Teresa grew up in Tras-os-Montes in the north of Portugal and I am originally from San Francisco in the U.S. Our professional backgrounds are in the field of education. Teresa owned and operated her own Montessori pre-school in Porto for 20 years and I taught at the local Universidade Catolica Portuguesa. We lived in Asia for 5 years where Teresa learned the art of Chinese brush painting. You will see her paintings and other Asian touches in the decoration of our apartment.. I love taking my bicycle for a ride along the river or down the coast, stopping to eat freshly grilled fish at a local restaurant. I also like playing golf on the local courses around the Porto area. And a great habit I picked up in Asia is the art of tea drinking – I love the ceremony around tea and can’t go a day without my Puer or Oolongs. Teresa loves to paint and read in her spare time and has studied color therapy.
We enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over the world. So come and share a glass of Port wine with us and spend some time in our fantastic city!
