About this listing

Leave city life behind with this little guesthouse, nestled between granite boulders and camellia bushes. Its balcony has a direct view onto Mt.Woodson with its world renowned "potato chip rock". The inside oozes country warmth with its wooden charm! Here you will experiences 4 seasons with hot summers, colorful autumns, cold winters and explosive flowering springs. But beware: no TV series here!

The space

This is a roomy studio cabin with an attached kitchen (convection oven, hot plate, refrigerator, coffee maker) and separate bathroom (shower). You will find plenty of closet space, a private balcony, and access to most of the 1.25 acres of country property. The main house is right next door but a completely separate space and entrance. Two little dachshunde and 2 cats might roam the area.

Guest access

Travelers may access the whole property as long as they are comfortable with meeting the dogs first upon arrival.

Interaction with guests

During the week I will be available in the evenings. Weekends I will likely be working in the garden all day and will be available to assist guests with their needs.

Other things to note

It is summer now and might get during the day! The cabin features a ceiling fan and a movable fan. The French doors and windows allow for ample breezes to rush through in the evening. The temperatures drop drastically at night for comfortable sleeping. While the cabin is not accessible to our cats, I advise guests with cat allergies to consider the fact that there are cats on the property. Dogs may be part of your stay with an additional deposit of $15, if they are friendly. Pets may not stay alone at the cabin when the guests go on outings. Please be sure to sign the liability waiver for your pets upon arrival.

Guest are welcome to be part of this beautiful retreat if they are respectful to nature and all the amenities. We try hard to preserve resources and hope that our guest support that notion by taking short showers and maybe even saving water from dishes for the plants. No smoking in or outside the cabin. This is a high fire danger area.
The fire pit is available after review of the necessary precautions, to avoid wild fires.
Pets are welcome as long as they are previously approved (please indicate breed, size and character).
Lastly, we do not allow any illegal drugs of any kind. Stay on the conservative side with alcohol consumption as well, as uneven paths and REALLY dark night skies could be potentially hazardous.

This is a wonderful property located next to Mt. Woodson hiking trails and many other outdoor options. An easy 10-min drive into downtown Ramona. Cabin is well appointed and cozy. Stayed during the heat of summer, but it is well shaded and gets good ventilation. Beautiful views and a very peaceful environment.

Sylvie is a wonderful host! The cabin is absolutely fantastic and the welcome basket was filled with great treats (we've never gotten a welcome basket like that at any of our other Airbnb stays!) The bathroom and kitchen areas were wonderful and my wife really enjoyed the sit-down vanity area where she could get ready in the mornings. Wonderful place and highly recommend!

We had a wonderful trip! We were greeted by drinks and snacks after the long travel there, and were absolutely enchanted by the cabin. As pictured, there is a limited kitchenette, so we couldn't cook but made toast in the toaster-oven each morning, and were able to store left-overs from eating out in the fridge. It was so nice to have a separate space all to ourselves, and we had some nice hikes in the area (saw a bunny!). We went to San Diego often, making day trips (40 min drive to most places we wanted to go) and coming back to the peace of Ramona and the clear, starry night sky. We were able to bring our dog, which was so lovely. The space was clean and comfortable in every respect. The host was excellent at communication, and was flexible with adding a guest for a night, and had a spare mattress in the closet.

Home was quaint. Sylvie was very communicative ahead of time and even had a welcome basket. We could walk to Potato Chip from there. For travelers in the summer, be aware there is no AC. Thanks for a great stay!! We truly enjoyed it.

Sylvie's place is a fabulous hideaway. Fall asleep listening to spring peepers, awaken by the dawn. We enjoyed the seclusion and quiet after a busy day with the grand babies. Thankful that our dog had the freedom to explore and stretch her legs in a fenced environment. The place was comfortable and inviting. A bit off the beaten path but just a short dive to restaurants, wineries, and fun activities. We will stay again on our next trip to visit family in North San Diego county. Thank you, Sylvie! :)

This was my parents 2nd time staying in Sylvie's cabin and this stay was even more enjoyable that their 1st stay (which was great). We relaxed even more and enjoyed the delightful sitting areas, the fresh blackberries and the new wonderful gas stove. A big thank you to Sylvie. :)

This cabin did not disappoint! Beautiful location right at the base of Mt. Woodson with easy access to hiking. Sylvie's property was beautiful and our two dogs had a blast roaming around and meeting her adorable Dachsunds. Sylvie was nice as can be, and went above and beyond during our stay. We were really wowed by the gift basket she left for us upon arrival. Made our stay that much more wonderful.

I have travelled the world in my younger years, and San Diego is where I stayed. I raised two children, found many wonderful friends here, and look forward to every day I begin in this beautiful place.
Protecting and supporting the environment is probably my greatest passion. Thus, I drive an electric car, don't use plastic bags, support organic farmers, and save resources wherever I possibly can.
My home will reflect this in many ways: water comes from the well, we try to use it more than once by collecting shower and dish and hand wash water for flushing the toilets and irrigating the plants. I am in the process of getting chickens for fresh eggs and hope to find time to plant a vast vegetable garden in the near future. Nature is healing our souls from stress and daily overexposure to overstimulation. At my house, you will find tranquility, separation from city life, and e and take a break!
