Francesco's Dad and cousin were very helpful in meeting us at the ferry (it's a really easy crossing - I had worried about it, but didn't need to!). They took us up to the apartment, which would have been tricky with only satnav the first time! Narrow streets... you get used to them, but on the first day in Sardinia in a brand new hire car, we were tentative! The apartment is up two very steep flights of stairs, which might be difficult for people with limited mobility - we were fine, but I was careful on the stairs! Carloforte is a lovely little town with plenty of nice places to eat and drink and watch life go by. It is not overly touristy, and that's a nice thing - lots of local people out in the evenings children playing etc - lovely atmosphere and only a short walk from the apartment. The island is very small and can easily be seen in a couple of days. We mostly swam at La Bobba beach, which is easy to access and has a bar next to it - others don't seem to.
