Lovely place set in the foothills outside Ponte de Lima. The property is large, clean and quiet with a great pool, orchard and vies down the hill. Carlos was a great host on many levels. He waited when we were late getting in and saved us by coming back to help us after our car failed to start. The touches like a bottle of wine and getting local bread dropped off every morning to us was fantastic. Note the 2 upstairs rooms are smaller than the 2 downstairs rooms but it worked really well for 4 blokes. Thanks Carlos. Wish we were back there now.
My family and I all had a wonderful stay in Carlos' beautiful, private and well looked after villa. Surrounding by mountains and stars it has everything you could ask for from swimming pool and BBQ to mandarin trees and croquet! Carlos was also the most attentive host, giving advice and support when we needed it and also bringing us veg from his garden and organising bread to be delivered fresh every morning. We couldn't have asked for more - thank you Carlos!
Thank you very much for our fantastic stay in your house. We enjoyed the time s(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) much. You welcomed us warmly with wine, fruits, buns and cookies for the kids, thanks once again for this. Not only but especially our kids loved the warm pool, the peaceful surrounding and the amazing view from the terrace. We had such delicious breakfasts with juice from selfpicked oranges completed by the fresh buns delivered to our gate. That was much more than you can expect.
If I could design my own perfect home away from home, it would look at lot like this. The Villa is situated high up in the Mountain, facing west, surrounded by a lush garden containing orange, lemon, olive and walnut trees, with vines nestling in between the vegetation and the house, providing a wonderful cool shade during the day. We took all our meals on the veranda, overlooking the valley, shielded from any wind by a very clever glass partition, that provided cover without obscuring the amazing sunsets. Many hours spent here! Everything had been thought of and supplied; a well appointed kitchen that met every need and even included a nesspresso coffee machine and sharp knives. Beds were firm and comfortable, hot water was always available and the house stayed cool despite the heat during the day. The pool and barbecue area were large, very clean and the pool was the warmest we've ever experienced (and a lot bigger than the photos suggest) Carlos and his family met us at the villa and made sure our stay was an enjoyable one. We were genuinely sad to be leaving and hope to return one day soon.
Carlos was a great host! Thank you for the warm welcome and care. Because the nearest store was about a 20-minute walk to Carlos brought us fresh bread rolls in the morning. Congratulations to the house, which was well prepared for our stay. Tasteful decor created a homely atmosphere and rather pleasant for us to stay. Equipment needed in the kitchen and the living room was very good. Beautiful view of the surrounding mountains was unforgettable. The possibility of resting in the garden, use of swimming pool, drinks lemon growing on tree made that we were all very pleased with the stay. Beautiful town of Viana de Lima Ponte Costello and was a great place for shopping and walks. We wish you many equally satisfied guests! George W. and friends.
Carlos was a great host. Who was generous and thoughtful. He made himself available during the booking processs and during our stay. Nice touches included leaving fruit and cakes on arrival and dropping off flowers when passing. He also organised for a fresh bread delivery each day. The gardens were fantastic and outside space was where we spent most time. The pool was more for cooling down or childrens play as it is quite shallow maybe 1.2m and the cover a little restrictive. On the down side the top of the house is in the loft space and therefore during our stay was too hot to sleep in, the kitchen is galley style and a little dated and basic. The furniture is rustic in style but is in keeping with the cotrage. Excellent internet connection and there is cable TV. Bedrooms down stairs were cool. The biggest enjoyment for us was the tranquility of the garden and the area and places to visit. The house is not a show house but reflects its status as a well loved property.
Response from Carlos:
Thank you for remarks, they will be very helpful. Hope next year, if we continue to share our house, to make improvements on the upper floor and kitchen. House roof and garage are also urgent issues. Outside furniture, I have just (yesterday) upgraded it. About the dinner plates, its the first time someone makes that remark, their not that big, but we have a soup plate, a "not so big" dinner plate and a dessert plate. Thank you again. Waiting for you to check the improvements next year ;) Carlos
