Our home is spacious, elegant, lovingly designed. We have a large drawing room, large kitchen/dining/living space and private garden. We are in walking distance of the city centre, museums, galleries, theatre, concert halls, cinemas and restaurants

The space

Our apartment is spacious, with an elegant drawing room and a large kitchen/dining/living space which opens out into a small, private garden. It was completely renovated in 2015. We travel the world and collect beautiful things - which is why regretfully we don't allow children and pets to stay and please, no smoking anywhere in the apartment.

The master bedroom is on the ground floor with its own shower room (and a TV/cable box). On the garden level there is a bedroom with an en-suite shower room. There is another family bathroom on the garden floor level.

Guest access

The whole apartment is accessible, with the exception of one internal closet on the ground floor and one bedroom/closet on the garden level

Interaction with guests

Even when we're out of town, we are always fully connected via email, mobile phone, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Facetime.... Our cleaner/housekeeper Jean knows the apartment inside out and can come to help at short notice.

Other things to note

Our house has a wonderful history. Sophie Jex-Blake, one of the famous 'Edinburgh Seven', was the first woman doctor to have her consulting rooms in our apartment in 1878. More recently, our drawing room was where many aspiring young dancers came to study, at the Manor Place Ballet School.

This is our home. We have a large collection of paintings by Scottish contemporary artists. We collect beautiful things from around the world so we would like you to treat it with as much care as we do ourselves. We revelled in the comforts of this home and the pleasures of the surroundings. It is a few steps from tram and bus lines and five minutes walk from Haymarket Station. In 30 minutes or less walking you can get to dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, and attractions. There are two grocery stores within ten minutes. The rooms in the home are generous--large with big windows. The ceilings are high, with gorgeous crown moldings and what my wife says are medallions. The house is full of wonderful art and artifacts. The kitchen is more than fully equipped. The secluded terrace off the kitchen was our favorite feature. The value proposition of this home versus a hotel room or suite? No comparison at all. We are retired and travel a good bit. This has been our best lodging ever.

A wonderful 4-day stay. A home away from home. Superb apartment! Very spacious and well-facilitated. One bedroom and one living room on the ground floor and the other bedroom and spacious kitchen-dining area and a small nice garden on the semi-underground floor. 10 min walk to the west end of Prince St. and 15-20 min walk to the Castle. Tari is a kind and understanding hostess and ready to come to our needs. Jeans was at the apartment to welcome us and provide the guidances for the amenities and came to say good-bye. Still there were some small improvements may be made about, like the water pressure upstairs.

Response from Tari:
I'm really sorry the water pressure in the en-suite bathroom was not strong enough - I'm afraid we deliberately made this so as it is a rain shower; in contrast with the two bathrooms downstairs. Other than that, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in our home, it was a real pleasure to host you.

Amazing location and such a comfortable home. Tastefully decorated. And Tari checked on us periodically to ensure our satisfaction. We felt like familiar guests in her home.

Wonderful apartment, it was easy to walk to the castle and many of the sites. Tari was extremely helpful and provided great suggestions for learning the culture of Edinburgh and local places to enjoy. Would highly recommend.

The warmth and spaciousness was the first surprise. The kitchen dining room look out on to a lovely secluded garden and have every cooking amenity provided. Supermarkets like stains bury are literally a two minute walk so you could provide for yourself. But Tari has loads of good suggestions for a great night's dining out too Towels and bathrooms lovely. Most of all everything is clean and beautiful. Super comfy beds.

Mu husband and I spend a lot of time travelling. We have five children and five grand-children - none of whom sadly live in Edinburgh! We both hold several public appointments in Scotland mostly in the arts and culture sector. We love the cinema, theatre and music - and absolutely love living in Edinburgh
