Our home is spacious, elegant, lovingly designed. We have a large drawing room, large kitchen/dining/living space and private garden. We are in walking distance of the city centre, museums, galleries, theatre, concert halls, cinemas and restaurants
Our apartment is spacious, with an elegant drawing room and a large kitchen/dining/living space which opens out into a small, private garden. It was completely renovated in 2015. We travel the world and collect beautiful things - which is why regretfully we don't allow children and pets to stay and please, no smoking anywhere in the apartment.
The master bedroom is on the ground floor with its own shower room (and a TV/cable box). On the garden level there is a bedroom with an en-suite shower room. There is another family bathroom on the garden floor level.
The whole apartment is accessible, with the exception of one internal closet on the ground floor and one bedroom/closet on the garden level
Interaction with guests
Even when we're out of town, we are always fully connected via email, mobile phone, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Facetime.... Our cleaner/housekeeper Jean knows the apartment inside out and can come to help at short notice.
Other things to note
Our house has a wonderful history. Sophie Jex-Blake, one of the famous 'Edinburgh Seven', was the first woman doctor to have her consulting rooms in our apartment in 1878. More recently, our drawing room was where many aspiring young dancers came to study, at the Manor Place Ballet School.
This is our home. We have a large collection of paintings by Scottish contemporary artists. We collect beautiful things from around the world so we would like you to treat it with as much care as we do ourselves. For this reason, regretfully we do not allow children and pets to stay, and please, no smoking anywhere in the apartment.
Mu husband and I spend a lot of time travelling. We have five children and five grand-children - none of whom sadly live in Edinburgh! We both hold several public appointments in Scotland mostly in the arts and culture sector. We love the cinema, theatre and music - and absolutely love living in Edinburgh
