About this listing

Tucked away in ancient limestone cliffs, Talikwas Eco Lodge sits high over its white sand beach. Accessible by house boat or a forest trail from Corong Corong Beach, this peaceful half-acre nature retreat offers magnificent views, simple charm and privacy. From this property to El Nido Town by boat-trike is 15-20 minutes, by foot is 30-40 minutes.

The space

Welcome to Talikwas Eco-Lodge! The perfect accommodations for yoga workshops, family reunions, group vacations, or simply abundant quarters for a pair of explorers.

The Talikwas Eco Lodge is a unique villa nestled in a luscious and secluded sanctuary and is located very close to El Nido Town: a 5 minute boat ride and a 5 minute tricycle ride, or alternatively a 20 minute jungle trail (depending on the tide) and then either a 5 minute tricycle ride or another 20 minutes walk.

This rustic residence offers an authentic experience to enjoy the private and pristine elements of the El Nido sea, forest, and ancient limestone mountains. Landscaped with flowers and lush greenery, this paradise is home to rare species of birds, monkeys, and other wildlife.

IMPORTANT: If you are accustomed to four star hotels, this home is not for you. Please understand that staying in a home surrounded by the jungle means that there are some accomodations to be made. Mosquitoes and other bugs are seasonal. The rooms are equipped with mosquito nets and electric fans. Because we work off solar power, there is no AC, refrigerators, or hot water. My home is rugged, peaceful, and beautiful. Finally, there is also a long staircase from the beachfront to the home, so we are not wheelchair accessible.

Guest access

You are welcome to meditate and star-gaze on the yoga platform that overlooks the harbor.
For daring adventurers, a marked trail leads up the high cliffs that overlook Bacuit Bay. There is also a much easier 100 meter bird-watching trail we recently cleared behind the house. Experienced climbers can exercise on the ancient limestone boulders by the beach. More relaxed vacationers have the beachfront at your disposal, along with lounging and taking in the vista on the wrap-around porch off the house.
Native reefs are easily accessible from our beach front. Bring a snorkel because there are lots of interesting fish! Explore the secret cave a short swim from the beachfront.
Finally, use of our 2 person kayak is available for exploring nearby areas.

Interaction with guests

You are the only guests. Our caretakers Rudy and Pinang live nearby and are here to make your stay comfortable and memorable.

Other things to note

This villa is secluded, and while there is running water, comfortable quarters, and two caretakers eager to help nearby, you should know that electricity is limited to solar energy and there is no wi-fi. There are chargers for your cel phones, cameras, ipods, laptops and other devices in every room. Multiple charging outlets are also available in the charging station downstairs. Charging hours are limited from 8 am to 6 pm.
Please plan to be a little more in touch with nature. Constantly going in and out of town will be difficult.
This home is not for anyone who cannot climb the steps up to the house or who has serious medical issues.

A simple breakfast is complimentary every morning of your stay. If you have food allergies or preferences for what's prepared, please speak to Pinang. Additional costs may apply.

The solar charging hours for your electronic devices are from 8 am to 6pm. Please plan accordingly.

The lights, electric fans, and the chargers all run on solar power. Because we are off the grid, there is no Wi-Fi. Portable wi-fi devices can get decent reception in the early morning hours.

Fresh bedsheets, towels, and basic necessities are provided.

You are welcome to use the Talikwas kayak, but please do not let it out of your sight when away from the property.

Laundry services can be arranged for 70 pesos per kilo.

Finally, a tip for our hardworking caretakers will be appreciated.

Nice, peaceful and different place in beautiful surroundings. The houskeepers (Pinang ad Rudy) are fantastic helpful, positive ad interesting people. Lovely small private beach. Transportation to the place works fine with Rudys boat or other "ferries" in nice weather, but can be difficult with a lot of luggage when windy. You will find the most beautiful nature you can imaginely within short distances. Some standard island hopping destinations and El Nido are nice but very touristy and unfortunately also sometimes with much garbage floating around. Main impression: very exciting and stressreleasing (e.g no wifi) and the best housekeepers taking care of you.

Talikwas is the perfect home away from home if you want to truly live as the locals do. The property is nestled away in the lush greenery that surround the entire property. It's a great escape to disconnect yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Please take note before booking, this property is separated from the main part of town. You will need to have Rudy (one of the caretakers) bring you across by boat to get to town. Please keep in mind, there are about roughly 100 steps to go up before you reach the beautiful Talikwas abode. The highlight of our trip were Pinang and Rudy, the caretakers. They were absolutely amazing! They treated my friends and I as if we were family. Just a few friendly tips, make sure you have Pinang cook a few traditional Filipino dishes during your stay. She is an exceptional cook! Also book a massage with Pinang's daughters, you won't regret it. Lastly, If you're looking for a experience away from the typical status quo hotel accommodations, I highly recommend you book this property.

Pinang and Rudy were really humble, helpful and beautiful people. There to please and help where they can, and always reliable. Big thanks to them! The location is good, quiet (except for boat noise at night), away from the noisy town of El Nido. Being in the forest was a blessing and a curse. Truly lovely, nature away from the buzz of town. Even more Hot, humid and more mosquitos because you are in the forest. A very special spot non the less

The perfect stay. Away from the noise of the town but not too far that it's out of reach. A peaceful getaway with a private beach and great communication from the host. We loved it

Booking confirmation wasn't pleasant. Unfortunately, I need to apply for a visa. I've asked Lucia to confirm the booking asap, as I need to provide booking confirmation to Philippines consulate. But confirmation takes 5 days, so I've made another booking at another place to be able to provide something to the consulate and I had to resend the reservation request again and again. We expected eco-friendly beautiful and peaceful place, based on description and comments from others guests. But we didn’t prepare for what we’ve got in fact with the strict cancellation policy. That’s true, that location is nice, but to get there is not easy and convenient: or hike through the messy trail or take a free boat until 5.30pm (additional trip with independent boatman wasn't possible due to problems with his boat). Check in time 2-5pm is ridicules: El Nino town is 5-6 hours ride by van from the international airport in Puerto Princesa and your flight easily may be a delay, what happens with us. Rudy and Pinang was really friendly and picked us up and ferry to the villa at 10.30pm. But right next day host asked for compensation, as we arrived late. I wonder how we can find the place by our own somewhere on cliffs in a middle of jungles? If compensation is required it has to be in booking description or host should pay to the caretakers from the money we paid for the stay. The place has charging station with only one USB port in the kitchen, so it's not possible to charge your laptop or few devices at the same time. "There is no Wi-Fi, however, we get decent cell tower reception." This is also not true, only in few places at the villa I've got the poor signal which wasn't enough to read even mailbox. If your towels and linens are clean, the place is not clean at all. Dusty kitchen seats and pillows, dirty wooden placemats, dirty floor in the showers. But the huge plus is their own kayak! You can go to the nearest absolutely gorgeous beaches, snorkeling spots by using it. El Nino is an amazing place! But the stay at "Talikwas Eco Lodge" spoiled a bit our impressions.

Response from Lucia:
Hi Vadym Please be reminded I assured you right away that I would hold your reservation. I was in a no-wifi zone for a few days so I confirmed your booking as promised, a few days later. I only suggested that you give my caretakers a tip for not calling them regarding your arrival delay. They had to wait in the beach with the boat from 5:30 to 10:30. You called them when you arrived. Wifi has become increasingly slow and unreliable because of increased users and because the limestone cliffs block the tower... I am sorry you did not have a good experience like my guests who find my lodge to be charming, rustic, quiet and with beautiful views of the harbor.
