Southgate is located on the top of the cliffs leading to the renowned "Three Cliffs Bay" (just a fifteen minute walk). With several places to eat out, golf club, hairdressers and a shop that sells all the essentials you needn't drive any further! Number 27 Heatherslade Road is tucked away in a quiet road just behind the cliffs.

The space

A family friendly home from home. Our games room has a table football that everyone will enjoy. We have a selection of games and puzzles and lots of reading material. In the lounge there is a TV with freeview, a DVD player with selection of DVD's. The kitchen\diner is large enough for everyone to fit in with patio doors opening onto the mainly grassed, fenced garden. As there is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom the house is suitable for anyone not able to sleep upstairs.
Number 27 is a dog friendly house but we do ask that you keep your dog in the kitchen area. We have provided a gate on the kitchen door for this purpose. This helps us keep the cleaning fee to a minimum and is fair for guests who do not have dogs. Thanking you in advance.

Guest access

There is room on the drive for 3 cars (or 4 smaller ones). Please park off the road as residents on the opposite side tend to use the road for parking as they have small drives.

We do have Wheel chair access as the house is on the level. The front door has a lip/step at bottom but apart from that the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and living areas are accessible. There same lip/step is on the patio doors leading to the garden.

Other things to note

We provide all bed linen, bath towels and a hand towel in each bathroom. There are 2 tea towels in the kitchen and a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and welsh cakes. We have lots of buckets, spades, balls and beach mat in the garden chest. Please make use of them and make sure they are put back at the end of your holiday. Thank you.

We were visiting our son at Swansea University, and fancied staying in the Gower peninsula with our new puppy. We didn't use the house to its full potential, as it could easily have taken a party of 8 (and has done, according to the visitors' book). It's a 2-minute walk from the cliff path with terrific views and walks, and about 10 minutes' drive from Mumbles. The village is delightfully peaceful, the house is spacious, clean and with a pleasant enclosed garden - and REALLY comfy beds! We didn't need to arrange an arrival time, as access was by a keybox with a combination lock - handy, as we were delayed en route. All in all, an ideal base to explore the Gower and close enough to get to Swansea easily.

This house is very well appointed and in a lovely location for walking and visiting the Gower. There is lots of room in the house and garden . We had two great meals at the local restaurant above the village shop. This restaurant has only recently opened and is excellent serving locally supplied produce. The cafe below is also great and very busy.

Trudie is a fantastic host and the house is perfect for anyone who loves the Gower. Comfortable in every way. Perfect for family holidays. The Southgate shop is a few hundred metres away and.is brilliant. You can be on a fabulous clifftop walk to 3 Cliffs Bay or the other direction within minutes. Great for travel connections of all sorts. Trudie is helpful and hospitable at every stage and responds quickly to messages. Highly recommended!

So glad u all had a lovely time, come back and visit soon. I have a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page now where I try and put up all the activities going on in the area - from organised walks to ghost stories at Gower heritage centre. @number27

Interaction with guests

The house is looked after by my neighbours in the adjoining house (no. 25). They have lived in Southgate for a very long time and are very knowledgeable about the local area. They will be happy to answer any questions during your stay.

About Trudie

I live in a rural part of Aberdeenshire in an old farm. From here I run Craigie House Interiors which supplies home accessories. We make everything from Harris Tweed door stops to tea cosys and notebook covers and regularly attend shows and distribute to over 25 shops from Edinburgh to Inverness. I love visiting our holiday house in wales as it is a few miles from where I was brought up as a child. We lived in Murton and I attended Bishopston infant school. Fond memories are of spending every sunday on the beach at Horton with what seemed like all our neighbours.
