This 1920 home is on a tree lined street. The interior of the home is a mixture of modern and period decor. The setting is historic, friendly and well maintained. George Eastman and staff lived in this neighborhood. Lowest crime area of Rochester.
Large 1920 built Edwardian House - warm and friendly atmosphere. Several areas of the house have gone through an update/renovation. The listing bedroom comfortably fits 2 guests. There is ample parking available.
When you make a reservation, please let us know if you'd like flannel or cotton sheets on the bed. As well, we are able to put 2, 4 or 6 pillows on the bed. The house is kept at a moderately warm temperature during the colder seasons (not too hot and not too cold). If you would like additional blankets, beyond the two that are on the bed, please ask. Central air conditioning keeps the house comfortable cool during the warmer months. An oscillating fan comes standard in the room, as well.
1 1/2 bathrooms, Chef's Kitchen, Front Porch and Back Deck. If there's anything that you may need that I have missed, please ask.
Interaction with guests
The guest(s) will determine the amount of interaction. I can be quite helpful and friendly in assisting any guest. Also, I am able to back away and provide the guest(s) with their independence. There is one small ferret that lives at the property. The only people that interact with this little girl are those that would like to. She is not forced on anyone.
Other things to note
The house has a fairly quiet atmosphere. Vegetarian friendly (there is also a meat eater in the house). LGBT friendly.
There is no smoking in the house or on the property.
Please leave all public areas exactly the way you find them.
Please put all plates, glasses and utensils in the dishwasher. Sharp knives and pans would need to be washed and put back to where they were found.
It is not necessary to make the bed before you checkout. Beds are stripped and towels are laundered upon guest departure. Please leave the door open when you checkout.
All of the Airbnb private rooms are named after streets in the area, which, in turn, are named after famous scientists from throughout the ages.
I have a large house in a central location. I co-own this house with a good friend and business partner who's name is Scott. He also acts as a host. Depending on the days of your stay and the hours you keep, you might see one of us more than the other.
I am a trained chef. Both Scott and myself have worked extensively in the hospitality industry. We both genuinely enjoy hosting Airbnb guests. It's well understood that some people come into town and want their privacy. Additionally, there are those that would prefer to know their hosts better and enjoy friendly discussions. You, as our guest, will make the decision as to how much interaction there is.
We have 2 rooms that are available for Airbnb guests with 1 and a half bathrooms available. We supply 400 thread count sheets with a variety of pillows, cotton bath sheet sized towels, hand towels and wash cloths. We also maintain an ample supply of soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. A hair dryer is available.
Coffee, Tea and water are all supplied and located in the kitchen. As time permits, we will work with our guests to create a shared meal.
We do go out of our way to be considerate and listen to our guests. While you're here, we do understand that this would be your home away from home! Please let us know of any special needs you may have when you book your room.
During our first year with Airbnb, we hosted many more women than men. Additionally, we've been lucky to host guests from all over the United States, as well as Canada, Ireland, England, Belguim, Germany, Austria, South Africa, Brazil, China, Japan and Australia.
The house is located within walking distance of shops/boutiques, banks, restaurants, bars and grocery stores. If you are without an automobile, a bus stop is within a hundred feet of the house. Our street has large, hundred year old trees on most properties with many great gardens. Although the house is in the city, there’s a lot of green around the house during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Many guests have remarked on the beautiful homes that are close by and how much they enjoy walking the area. Two of the most expensive houses in the city are within a casual minute walk and one of them is Rochester’s only Frank Lloyd Wright house. We’re fortunate to not have the same criminal activities present that can be found in so many other areas of the city.
FYI to UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER STUDENTS - the U of R bus shuttle is very close by. Many U of R students have found this very convenient -- living in a nice neighborhood and having convenient local transportation to the campus.
Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher, Nazareth and Monroe Community College are close and can be traveled to via the local city bus line.
The George Eastman house is a casual 10 minute walk.
