The check-in went fairly smoothly. The directions provided by Larry were excellent and there was no problem at all finding the house. The manager/handyman Abel met us at the house at the specified time. The only hang-up was that one key was missing and we couldn't get into the upstairs rooms right away. However, we called Abel and he quickly remedied this. The house was just as described and everything was clean and comfortable. There are two separate living areas. Downstairs there is a kitchen, bathroom and living room in the main house and a bedroom accessed through a separate entrance. Upstairs is the second living area with a smaller kitchen and living room and a bedroom. There is third bedroom upstairs that is accessed from a separate entrance off the main balcony. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The grassy back yard and pool area was very nice to have. The pool isn't heated and was a little chilly (we were also there during an unusually cool period), but was still enjoyable to use. The hot tub wasn't ever more than a couple degrees warmer than the pool, even after running it for long periods -- not that you really need a hot tub in Mexico. We also had a 20-month-old with us. While it's not a "baby safe" house, we didn't have any problems and there were no unusual safety concerns. There is also a lockable gate at the top of the stairs leading up to the second floor. The house is about a 5 minute walk to the beach and a little further to the plaza, restaurants, etc. It's in a quiet area of town without any amenities directly around it. Lo de Marcos itself has limited tourist amenities. The restaurants are generally pretty basic (Arcelia's was the best from our experience), though they are fairly inexpensive and they do serve up tasty seafood and simple Mexican fare. The beach was wide and sandy and much less developed and crowded than the other Riviera Nayarit beaches to north of PV. There was a small sports shop near the plaza on the main road into town where you can rent surf boards or SUPs. You can also catch boats right from the beach for snorkeling, fishing or whale watching. All-in-all everything was as we expected and there were no unpleasant surprises. It was a very enjoyable week and we would certainly consider Casa Maria again on a future trip to the area.
