Other things to note
If you'd like to ask ahead of time about restaurants, music or places to see - just e mail me and I'll do my best to be of help.
I think living with people, either for a day or a lifetime, is about mutual respect. This would include respect of each others privacy. Some guests may want a lot of interaction with the host, while others would be more inclined to be left alone. I respect each person's proclivities in that respect. There's a lock on your door.
Cancel up to 24 hours before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 24 hours of your trip and the first night is non-refundable.
I am retired. I used to help a friend sometimes with his B and B and learned that I really liked meeting new people, and showing them around our wonderful city.
I just finished the St. John's Triathlon. My other goal was to rent a room in this lovely house, full of wood floors and nice furniture.
It's to make some extra cash, of course, but it's a way too of relaxing in retirement, and sharing my knowledge of St. John's.
One guest was unable to post her review because I discontinued that listing. But it's the same room and house. She writes:
Here is what I will say and hopefully you can get it online ***************
"My husband and I very much enjoyed our time at Brian's house on Topsail Road. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable and came with a standing fan which will be an asset In times of warmer weather. The bathroom was down the hall which was fine with us. He also offered us the use of the computer room next door to the bedroom. Brian is a person with eclectic interests and life experiences and we had some good conversations over morning coffee and breakfast, which he didn't have to make for us, but did. He knows a lot about hiking and biking routes and was able to tell us where to go on the East Coast trail. If you enjoy walking you could walk down to Water Street and down to the centre of town in 20 minutes or so. The street he lives on is treed and has some older character houses.
Brian was hospitable and responsive to texts, which is they way we like to communicate with hosts once we are on the road. He is easy going about arrival and departure times. When we locked ourselves out of our room he "sprang to action" and problem solved quickly! "
The photos on airbnb are true to the space. This is not the Ritz but is comfortable and great value if you are on a budget. As a bonus, Brian has a very friendly dog and cat if you are an animal lover.
We would be happy to stay at Brian's again."
