Echoes of the Past....
An atmospheric and quirky residence, resonant with echoes of its past as a hay and cattle barn. Situated on a typical Tuscan raised outcrop, or "poggio", surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, 4 miles from San Gimignano and 25 from Florence and Siena.....
The characteristic charm of the apartment is its visible links to its history as a convent hay and cattle barn. The long manger and some of the original tie-up hooks have been preserved and incorporated into the main bedroom, while the sunbeams pouring through the tessellated brickwork of the living room remind us that this was where the hay was once kept fresh and aerated during storage.
This is not just a pretty hill-top retreat, it is an atmospheric and quirky residence, resonant with echoes of its past.
If you listen carefully, as you relax in the high-beamed living room, you may just catch the lingering murmurs of its ruminating former occupants echoing in the rafters…..
Guests have use of the Manger Bedroom with King-size bed and en-suite Manger Bathroom with shower stall, hair-dryer, PLUS 2nd "Clock" Bathroom with bath-tub & plastic ducks
The spacious Hay Day Room comprises kitchen with four stove-top gas rings, new electric oven, micro-wave oven, high-chair, and dining and living areas.
A laundry room with washing machine gives out onto a terrace that overlooks a herb garden from which you can pick sage, rosemary and thyme, and a lower open area for sitting or dining outside.
The property has its own parking space for up to four cars.
There is a large supermarket 3 miles from the property, as well as numerous artisan stores, wine producers, restaurants, pastry shops and coffee bars.
The extra "toddler" bed is actually an adult-length fold-away camp-bed (UK) / cot (US) for a listed CHILD to sleep with parents in the bedroom or Hay Day Room. There's also a fold-away cot (UK) / crib (US) with mattress for a baby up to 3 years old (if you list them as CHILD), though we ask that you bring your infant or toddler's own special blanket.
If you require bed and linens for an infant/toddler, please list them as CHILD guest, and indicate to us in the request what kind of extra bed you will need. If your infant/toddler will NOT need an extra bed, you may list them as an INFANT guest
