Beautiful Saltillo tiles & vigas, both characteristic of traditional adobe construction. Clean. Cozy. Quiet. Private. Yet Convenient to everything. From this angle, Casita de Roberto is the portion of the home to the right of the archway.

The space

Casita de Roberto is a graciously appointed 1BR/1BA attached Casita at Sundollar Ranch (13 miles NW of the Historic Taos Plaza) in which to unwind along your journey, wash clothes, fix a home-cooked meal and recharge or to make your oasis on a long-awaited destination getaway! Casita de Roberto is conveniently located half-way between the world-class slopes of Taos Ski Valley and the invigorating hot springs at Ojo Caliente. Enjoy an energizing hike to TSV's Williams Lake or up Wheeler Peak one day and an ultimate hot springs/spa experience the next!

This traditionally built Adobe with beautiful Saltillo tile floors and large vigas in the ceiling is an approx 500sf attached casita & has everything you need and more: A large gas Tiera fireplace for chilly nights; full-size washer & dryer; sufficient storage for hiking gear/poles; plenty of free parking; a fully equipped kitchen with full-size refigerator/freezer and gas oven/range; coffee maker, microwave, small blender, hand-mixer, pots/pans, bakeware, vibrant stonewear, utensils and some essential cooking ingredients; and a large bathroom with tub, hot shower & fluffy towels.

There is also a large propane grill, patio table & umbrella for your outdoor dining pleasure.

The bedroom has a new comfortable Queen-size bed with soft luxurious linens, ample closet space, a flatscreen TV/DVD with Direct TV satellite service, a small workspace with stool & northern view, a ceiling fan and 8000 BTU air conditioner for a comfortable night's sleep this summer.

The views from throughout the Casita are gorgeous but especially in the bedroom which fills with morning light as the sun rises over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and beckons you to grab a cup of your favorite fresh-brewed coffee, relax on the patio and take in the expansive mountain views.

Although internet service throughout Taos County can be sketchy at times, you should not have a problem if you need to use your Smart Phone or the available Verizon MiFi (password protected) to catch-up or check-in after a day of exploring and shopping, or before going out for an enjoyable dinner and/or live music at any number of great local restaurants. Verizon provides the best coverage.

Traveling with others in an RV??

Sundollar Ranch can also accommodate summer travelers with an RV Space with Full Hookups for RV or Camper + 1 parking space for tow-vehicle. The RV site offers:
Water, Sewer & 50-amp Electric;
Graveled Level Back-In Site;
Mountain Views. See separate Airbnb Listing for 'Sundollar Ranch RV Space'. $38/night.

NOTE: Reservations MAY be subject to a 3-night stay during certain holiday and/or festival/special event periods. Feel free to submit an inquiry prior to submitting a reservation request.

Guest access

Athough the Casita is attached to the private main residence, guests will enjoy complete privacy in the Casita -- which is fully self-contained with private entrance -- as well as on the patio and in the small yard from which to enjoy expansive mountain views to the east and south/southwest.

The Host(s) will make every effort to be there to greet you when you arrive. However, due to work schedules & varying arrival times, that's not always possible. When Host(s) are not readily available upon arrival, you will have lockbox access and can make yourself at home. Host(s) will check-in with you after work to ensure all is satisfactory and to answer any questions you may have.

Interaction with guests

We are here for you and available in person or by phone/text throughout your stay. But we respect your privacy and want you to have a quiet oasis to enjoy as you wish.

Other things to note

After retiring, my father traveled from Houston to Taos on vacation in 1991. He was immediately smitten with the desert Southwest, specifically the arid climate, vibrant culture and creative & diverse people of Taos, New Mexico. He returned to Houston only long enough to pack his stuff.

He made Taos his home, established a new way of life for himself (including an authentic life of sobriety & joy) and, a few years later, began building his dream-home on 10 acres high above the waters of the Rio Grand River. Today, the original part of that home is what you are enjoying as Casita de Roberto. Nothing would make him happier than to know your experience here helped you relax, regain your bearings and refocus your life on the things that matter most to you. If that happened to include live music and dancing, he'd be delighted beyond measure to think he had a hand in that.

Now alcohol-free, Dad's favorite 'honky tonks' included the Sagebrush Inn (for a little 'Texas Two-Step' with Jimmy Stadler), the Alley Cantina (for BBQ Shrimp and some loud Rock 'n Roll with the Damn Band), and Thursday Night Live in Taos Plaza (Memorial Day to Labor Day) with Brent Barry, Mina Tank, Katy P & The Business, and others.

He would say: Life is short. So enjoy. Get rid of the things that are holding you back. And persue your dreams...sober...but with unabashed abandonment.

3-night minimum during certain holiday and/or festival/special event periods. Feel free to submit an inquiry prior to booking a reservation.

CLEANING FEES --
Please note that we do NOT currently charge a cleaning fee. We desire to offer you a remarkable vacation experience, complete with fully equipped kitchen & laundry room, for less than you'd pay for a generic hotel room. If it's not your habit at home to remove your shoes at the front door, do not feel obligated. However, please DO thoroughly wipe your shoes upon entering. But, if removing your shoes is a habit you've established in your own home, your doing so here is appreciated as well. It assists us in keeping our cleaning costs down & prevents the need for additional guest fees.

ENERGY USE --
HEAT (**mid-Oct thru late-April Only): The Casita is heated by two propane fireplaces: one in the LR and one in the BR. When the thermostat is turned up, the Casita gets warm quite quickly due to the efficiency of propane heat. Therefore, please do not leave propane fireplaces above 65 in the Casita when you are not there.

A/C (**Summer Only): There is a wonderful crossbreeze in the evening so feel free to open any of the windows that have screens on them. If you open the non-screened windows or leave the door open, you probably will have a house full of flies!  :)

A new 8000 BTU window A/C with remote has been installed in the bedroom if you prefer conditioned air to natural air. Please do not leave it running when not at home.

LIGHTS: To save energy, please turn lights OFF when not at the Casita.
NOTE: If planning to return after dark, please feel free to leave on one interior light, as well as the outside motion detector. The switch closest to the front door controls the outdoor motion detector.

DISHES -- Please thoroughly hand-wash all dirty dishes. You may leave the clean dishes in the drainer to dry and we will put them away for you.

WASHER & DRYER -- There is a washer & dryer in the Casita for your convenience, along with laundry detergent and bleach in the cabinet above the dryer. If bleach is used, please be sure and allow the washer to complete the full wash, rinse and spin cycles to insure there is no bleach/bleach residue left in the washer.

These House Rules & other Courtesies, as well as complete Check-out Procedures, are provided in the hardbound folder you will find on the kitchen counter. Please peruse them upon arrival & discuss any concerns or questions you may have with the Host. Thank you.

Robin is a super hostess! This was our second stay at Casita de Roberto. It's a great place to unwind, enjoy star gazing, and beautiful northern New Mexican scenery. The casita is very clean and has all the essentials, plus more, that you need. It's a short drive to Taos.

The casita is beautiful and close to the hot springs, which was the main reason why we stayed at Robin's. The place was spotless and the kitchen has every thing you need for cooking full meals. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom. Robin is very good at communicating and making sure we had everything we needed. We hope to be back!

Robin was the sweetest and super responsive and helpful with our visit. The home is quiet, private, very clean and very cozy. Stocked with some teas and condiments that you may need. The area is so peaceful, we saw hawks, sheep goats on our walk down by the rim of the gorge! That is so close and awesome, and in the eves the brewery down the street has music every night. We went to a concert in downtown and the drive was only 20 min. There a bunch of NM restaurants we tried that were excellent, and Robin even has a little welcome book to show you all the recommended spots! We'll def be back!

I am the daughter of one of the most committed Taos transplants this town has ever seen! As a result, I am here as well. He's known around town by many names but is certainly best known as the Marine who loves to dance! For the thousands of visitors who travel to Taos each…
