La Maison de Bernadette. Independent 3 bedroom Mountain chalet at the end of a cul-de-sac. In the heart of the French Pyrenees in a small peaceful village of Artalens-Souin. A Bigourdane house with amazing views of the surrounding mountains.
You will have one private guest room with 2 single beds for 2 people with private en-suit, in this large 3 bedroom house. (Possibility of the 2 other bedrooms being rented out also during your stay)

Our property was built in the 1700s and is a large bigourdane mountain house. It has been lovingly renovated for the summer season of 2017.
Newly installed double glazing and new insulation to be more eco-friendly and energy efficient. It is the perfect mix of old and new with modern amenities.
Each guest room has 2 single beds that can be made into a double and have an en-suit with shower, sink and eco toilet. We supply towels and organic soaps.
In the dining room is a large handmade extendable Basque dining table and chairs and the huge Bigourdane chimnee, this is where we will supply a plant based buffet style breakfast.
We supply each morning an organic healthy and energy filled plant based breakfast for your day of mountain activities.
A choice of cereals, rice and almond milk, fresh fruit, biscots/bread, jams/honey, homemade goodies, a choice of teas, coffee, freshly made juice of the day and a selection of dried fruits.
Breakfast is included with your reservation.
We can also prepare your evening meals and picnics each day/night (these meals need to reserved in advance and are at an extra cost).
The living room and dining room are both communal spaces and have spectacular views over the valley and mountains. The living room is cosy and has 2 large comfortable sofas.
There is free wifi access available onsite. Here at La Maison de Bernadette we have wifi zones to help you stay connected during your stay. One zone covers the garden and out buildings and the other zone covers the downstairs areas of the house. For your own comfort we do not have wifi in the bedrooms.
There is plenty of good holiday reading kept in the house and in the cold winter evenings we light the open fire.
A door from the dining room leads out onto the balcony, with amazing views over the valley and mountains.
We have a total of three guest rooms in the house and all three can be made up as a double or twin beds.
A reading nook on the landing is the perfect place to hide away and read a book from the large selection we have in the house.
Each guest room has it’s own en-suit which includes a private shower, sink and eco toilet.
Is a communal space.
The barn is where there is a fridge/frezzer and kitchenette (for your use), washing machine and every conceivable extra you could ever want (cook books and baking equipment etc).
Within the large unfenced garden that surrounds the house and barn, you will find plenty of space to sit and read a book, or just relax and take in the mountain views.
Growing around the house are lots of fruit trees, as well as organically grown vegetables, all of which you are welcome to pick.
There is an abundance of space and you will find the sun loungers, a large sandpit, trampoline, swing ball and a whole host of other outdoor toys. The garden is also home to our very friendly outdoor cat ‘Captain Bob', our free ranging ducks.
We are a friendly couple with a child of our own.
The wonderful permaculture garden with it’s panoramic views of the mountains has plenty of space for children to play and run around, with lots of outdoor play equipment and opportunities to collect the fresh eggs from the ducks who love to hide them!
Access to all communal living areas of the house and it's large garden and terraces.
Use of the BARN's kitchen if needed to prepare your own lunches or dinners.
There is ample Free off-road private parking for guests.
Use of under house for mountain equipment is also available on request.
We have an onsite bar, where we supply local and organic wines, beers and more that you can purchase during your stay.
Interaction with guests
Fresh eggs (from our free range ducks) are availably during your stay (seasonal due to laying patterns of the birds).
We are on site nearly every day if you need us for any enquiries/advice and help.
We supply a plant based breakfast with your reservation, but can also prepare you lunch and dinner (at an extra cost).
Other things to note
No Smoking inside the buildings.
No pets allowed; due to family allergies.
Tourist taxes are not included (per person per night), to be paid in cash on arrival.
Important; During winter having snow chains with you is a must. In heavy snowfall the access to house can get blocked.
Please be considerate of any other guests who might be staying in the other 2 guest rooms.
You are expected to leave the house in the same way you found it, Clean and tidy with no breakages. If not we will charge you.
Do not eat in the bedroom.
