April 2017 - The location of the house was excellent. It is very close to the Melia Cohiba hotel and walking distance to restaurants and mini mart. (If you need wifi, you can go to the hotel and buy an internet card for 4 cuc per hour.) The house is very basic, but comfortable. The beds were fine, and air conditioning worked very well. There is also a nice television with a few cable channels in each room. Although not in current pictures, one room has a queen bed and the other room has a queen and twin bed, which worked well for our teenagers. They beds could use more pillows, it only had the decorator pillows, but fortunately we travel with our own pillows. The bathrooms are very small, and shower water pressure was not very strong, but manageable. Do not plan on cooking, the kitchen has minimal supplies. There was a single cup stovetop espresso maker, but no coffee, so we purchased our own. The single cup water hot water kettle did not work. However, there was a microwave to heat up water. Check-in was easy, Ms. Marlen, the host, was very kind. We did not meet the owners. The host does not offer any breakfast/meals, so plan accordingly.
We highly recommend the "Corner Cafe" one block away for breakfast. And the best meal we had in Havana is at "Tablazo" on the Malecon, about 3 blocks away, we went twice during our stay, it was that good! The only other concerning thing was that there is a video camera in the entry way salon/living room. It was a bit eerie knowing the owners can watch you so we did not feel comfortable relaxing there. They knew when we were there as the phone rang once we were in the house. If we were to return to Cuba, we would consider staying here again because of the excellent location and it was a good value.
