OTHER HOUSE INFO / HELPS

Garbage day is early Thursday morning. If you are staying at the house, please put the cans on the street either Wednesday night or early in the morning on Thursday.
For stays less than 5 days, you are limited to one of the two outside cans.

The internet password is thomasryan

Only two vehicles can park in the off street parking. More than two,
blocks the "sidewalk" and you may receive a ticket. Please be careful
when parking, the curb interferes with one of the concrete strips and
must be approached at an angle. Also, the height from the street can be
troublesome for smaller vehicles. Go slowly.

Currently, we do not provide beach towels. Please bring your own.

Please do not turn the thermostat below 72. Turning the thermostat lower will result in the unit freezing up and no cool air.
When this happens the unit must be turned off and it takes several hours for it to unfreeze and no air conditioning will be available.

The upstairs master bedroom also has a window unit. During the day when temperatures are in the 90's, it helps to turn this unit on. It will assist the central air in keeping the upstairs cool. At night, it is your option to leave on or off.

To lock and unlock the back door, open the door, look on the side where the latch is.
You will see two buttons. Pushing in one of these buttons unlocks the door, pushing the other locks the door. Please make sure the door
is locked when leaving.
Double check please.

The hardwood floors are original to the house. Please take extra care. High heeled shoes and wet towels are particularly troublesome.
They have survived 100 plus years and hopefully many more!

The china in the dining room is from the 1920's. If you use please hand wash and do not put in the dishwasher. Thank you for your consideration in taking extra special care.

Extra silverware is in the dining room hutch drawer

The ceiling fans and lights on the ceiling fans are operated by the hand held remote control. To operate, make sure the switch on the wall is turned on, then use the remote to adjust the light or the fan speed.
If still not working, also make sure the fan and light is on by pulling the chains hanging down from the fan.

The hot water in the upstairs bathtub is backwards. Hot is on the right.
Also, if you turn on the hot water in the sink as well as in the bathtub, it will get hotter faster.
Turn off the sink when you are ready to shower.

To turn the TV on, on the remote press the TV button and then the power button, then press the satellite button and then the power button
Do not change the channel until the satellite is on.

Our fence is not dog proof. Small pets can go thru and large dogs can go
over. For your pets safety, please do not take them outside without a
leash. 19th Street is a busy street and some of our neighbors have outside cats.
It only takes an instant for an accident to happen.

Most of the time when we arrive to clean I have to wonder if anyone was
at the house at all! A sincere thank you to those guests.

Above all, please enjoy your stay.

Feedback/reviews posted to the website would be most appreciated.

This home was a dream come true. It was like stepping back in time but with today’s conveniences. Our host Dawn, was gracious and helpful. If I had any questions she responded back promptly. This home is situated close to the historic strand as well as the sea wall so no matter what your activity for the day, it’s an easy trip. For those traveling with children there is a beautiful park across the street. If you feel like cooking there is a fully stocked kitchen or you can take it easy and walk across the street to Sonny’s for a quick bite to eat. The neighborhood is a quiet and peaceful place for a family to spend vacation time with so much to do at your fingertips or just kick back at the house and relax. The house is beautifully done with modern conveniences all while keeping the Victorian feel with beautifully and carefully chosen pieces. Thank you Dawn for your hospitality! You made our stay one to remember and I was the hero with the rest of the group that traveled with us for finding such a beautiful gem! We will definitely be back!!!

Dawn's house in Galveston is a historic treasure. It survived the 1900 huricane, as well as Ike. It has been restored to Victorian era style and decor. This was our second stay and was mot disappointed in our visit nor our host.

This house was a great find in a good neighborhood centrally located. It was easy to get to the beach and directly across the street from a cute bar/pub that is the oldest in Galveston. We loved the historic charm of the home and easy beach drive!

This being our first Airbnb experience, we didn't quite know what to expect when we arrived. Would the online photos live up to our expectations? Were the previous reviews accurate? Would our host be responsive to questions & concerns? A resounding Yes to all! From the moment we stepped thru the front door, we felt transported to the late 1800's, but with the bonus of some modern necessities (coffee pot, ice maker, outside gas grill, etc.). The host did a fabulous job in maintaining the integrity of this home and even displayed historical photos and framed articles to help us better understand the history around us. The home was clean, orderly and well stocked with the necessary kitchen & bath items and even a few beach supplies in the outdoor shed (pool noodles, beach mats, small beach tent, etc.) I traveled with my parents, husband, two elementary-aged kids & two dogs and our surroundings offered something for everyone! A relaxing front porch & back balcony to enjoy a good book or morning coffee, a large playground and open field just steps from our front porch, the historic Sonny's restaurant immediately next door (ask the owner for some mustard & you're in for a treat), a short 2 min drive to the beach, and an abundance of historical markers on several blocks for any history lover. The only real negative were the stickers from outside. We soon made it a habit of removing our shoes at the front door & a quick check of the dogs legs, then we were good to go! Not gonna lie, had a lump in my throat when it came time to return our keys to this beautiful home. Will definitely be back!

Response from Dawn:
Thank you so very much! It was a pleasure hosting your family and hope you will visit with us again soon. People who live in Galveston say if it weren't for the sticker burr plants we would have no grass at all! They are definitely a nuisance but no amount of weed control gets rid of them. Thank you for not bringing them inside.

This is a beautiful, nicely decorated historic home. Dawn is very attentive to detail and called the first evening to check that everything was ok. It is a comfortable home with plenty of room. I felt it was an excellent value with 3 nice bedrooms and plenty of sitting room for visiting. It has central air so the temperature in the home was quite comfortable. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in the older historic part of Galveston.
