Beautiful private room in classic house uptown 2 blocks off of historic Magazine St. Full kitchen, queen bed, shared full bath. Quiet neighborhood for sleep. Quick walk, Uber, or bike ride out to the French Quarter, Marigny, Garden District, and the parks. Come enjoy some live local music, food, culture!

The space

My house is a classic uptown style house with all modern amenities due to a full gut renovation in 2010. Come enjoy your stay with the best of both worlds!

Guest access

Most of the house will be accessible with the exception of my bedroom and bathroom in the back. There is a full kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining area, quaint backyard and deck, guest bedroom and full bathroom, and living room all available

Interaction with guests

I'd be more than happy to offer any suggestions to folks coming to New Orleans! We love to show our city off!

Other things to note

I have two kittens who are very friendly. They may try to annoy you by being adorable wanting attention.

Polite and neat. I'm a very clean and organized person which I attribute to being an engineer. I like to take very good care of my house. I don't mind noise, staying up late, drinking, etc. No smoking in the house but out on the front or back porch is perfectly fine.

Jeff was a great host! The house was beautiful and in a perfect location, close to lots of shops and restaurants. We brought our bikes and were able to easily ride all over New Orleans from the house. Jeff quickly responded to any questions I messaged him. We really just needed a shower and a place to lay our heads and this place did just that! Thanks again Jeff!

Jeff was an awesome host! He reached out to us a week before our visit and kept us updated about his plans. He gave us clear instructions on how to get into the house and recommended places to visit. The house was really cool and super close to the garden district and French quarter. Overall it was great!

The location was good. The house was charming and the interior was reflective of the pictures online. However, we ended up staying with another set of people that I'm assuming we're also with air bnb, but I'm not certain. We had to share a bathroom with these unknown guests, which meant we could not shower when we wanted to and had to wait for the other guests to finish. This information was not given to us before we chose to stay with Jeff. We also ended up staying in a room that was not pictured, so the other guests got the "guest room" that we thought we were getting. Our room was private but it wasn't able to lock from the outside so whenever we left our personal belongings were vulnerable to the other guests should they choose to come in. The shower curtain was obviously needed to be changed because the orange grime was about a foot up the bottom. The bathroom was not super clean and the white bathroom rug was covered in dirt and either needed to be washed or at the very least shaken out. The mattress we slept on had several stains that we probably wouldn't have noticed but the sheets were not put on the bed until after we arrived. The account says the check in time was 12 however we didn't get to check in until almost 4. We felt like we were crashing with a friend and needed to arrange our vacation schedule on their time instead of paying customers. Overall if we had to it over again, we would not stay here.

Response from Jeff:
Brooke, while I understand these concerns, I feel like this bashing is completely unwarranted. Details laid out below. 1. I AirBNB both spare rooms out of my house. So, by definition, both guests were in "the guest room". 2. Point #1 is listed in the detailed description of the listing. I would encourage any future guests to read the details as all of these items, including the shared bathroom, are mentioned. 3. The shower rug was washed and bleached 5 days prior to Brooke's check-in. 4. Referring back to point #1, there were two other guests who had checked out on the morning of Brooke's check-in. The sheets were hot and fresh out of the dryer and just needed to be put onto the bed upon check-in. Brooke could have easily checked in earlier than 4 however seeing as that was her specified check in time per text messages that afternoon, I'm not sure what I could have done to facilitate 12:00. 5. Yes, the mattress has been used by other people. I could replace with a new mattress for every guest however they may not like the new price point. My goal is to facilitate accommodations for travelers on a budget who want to see and explore one of (if not the best) city in the country. It should be noted that the weekend of Brooke's stay fell on St. Patrick's Day, in the heart of festival season. Average hotel price point was ~$300/night. Mine was $75/night. 6. I still gave Brooke an overall 5 star review as a guest because her and her husband were 5-star guests. Please don't take this as a slam on her. I would still highly recommend other hosts to welcome her as a guest.

Jeff was nice and professional. The place is close to public transportation and a variety of good local restaurants, the neighborhood is quiet. I enjoyed staying here.

Hey fellow Air BNB'ers. Myself and my fiance travel frequently and much prefer to stay somewhere comfortable and with a kitchen so we don't run our travel expenses up too high by dining out every meal while travelling. Favorite places I've visited are Chicago, Seattle, New York, Barcelona, Madrid, St. Petersburg, Prague, and Berlin, aside from New Orleans, of course.
