The perfect little getaway cabin in the most exquisite of picturesque Chilean farmland. Absolutely terrific host, even happy to help build a fire. Little slipper booties are provided to keep your toesies warm. Wood burning furnace that warms not only the cabin but also your soul provides a scrumptious rustic smell that adds to the back country, "over the river and through the woods" ambiance. A spectacularly cozy place, restored and remodeled by the host himself and the spirit of God, to enjoy the tranquility of the pittering-pattering rain drops that fall with the grace of the Lord, reminding us of His everlasting disdain for the selfish nature of his most prided creation: human beings. A quiet and peaceful place to escape the city.

I spend a wonderfully relaxing two days+nights at Jeroen's cabaña. Absolutely enjoyed being out there in nature, stargazing, hiking and above all kayaking in the dead tree valley. Jeroen arranged for me to go kayaking and even drove me to the starting point early in the morning. He also had some recommendations on where to go next on Chiloé and I was able to learn a bit about his reforestation project. In short, great and cozy cabaña as advertised, great host. Much appreciated!

The perfect place to experience the wonderful nature of Chiloe. We spent three nights in this cosy, quite and clean Cabana in the middle of nowhere. Jeroen was the perfect host. He picked us up from the bus at the road (we had no car - but even hitchhicking back to Ancud was no problem at all), provided wood for the stove and even let us use his ipad. The Cabana is the perfect place to chill and relax, as you have not only the house to yourself, but also a huge piece of land to walk around. The nature is incredible. We met Pudus every evening and took a lot of time watching the hummingbirds in front of the house. We can highly recommend this place and were sad to leave. Thank you so much for having us, Jeroen!

Our stay at Jeroun's place was wonderful! He waited for the bus to drop us off near Anguay so we wouldn't pass his street, which helped a lot. We stayed for 4 nights and there were only two of us but the house is equipped to hold at least five so it was roomy. The first few days were rainy so we played a lot of guitar and read on the hammock. On the sunny day Jeroun arranged for us to kayak in the nearby sunken forest for a great deal! It was an unforgettable experience! He was very friendly and helpful and he and his family live just down the road. We highly recommend it - if we ever get the chance to return, we're definitely staying there again!

What a wonderful place to stay. I can't recommend staying at Alihuen enough. Totally self contained, cosy, private, super clean and hosted with the perfect mix of being available but totally unobtrusive. Minor glitches with water pump sorted out speedily with profuse apologies-totally not required. We also had the bonus of getting kayaking sorted out in dead tree valley - much easier and cheaper than we could do. You won't regret staying here, easy access to tour around Chiloe for multiple days esp. if you have your own car.

Our stay in Chepu was wonderful! Jeroen and his family were kind and welcoming hosts. Although we were his first airBnB guests, he is an experienced host as he's hosted WWOOFers in the past. The cabin was just what we needed - an opportunity to escape from technology and sit back and relax! It was easy to find with the map he provided and the wood stove was very cozy. We felt very comfortable and were surprised that he even had a crib for our baby. We also weren't too far from Ancud so we were able to get food and necessities - though be sure to fill up on gas before driving out there! Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would have been glad to stay longer.

Alihuen User ProfileAlihuen is a superhost.

Combining cooking, working as a tour guide and farming on my land has allowed me to do the things I most like, being in nature, growing, preparing and sharing good food and ultimately preserving the environment through the planting of native trees on a large scale.
