This is a bright and spacious bedroom, located on the second floor, with beautiful views of the side lawn and the gallop at the front of the house, where the horses work in the mornings. It has a king sized bed (5ft), plus the option of a comfortable sofa double bed (4ft 6ins), and has an ensuite bathroom with a shower. It is ideal for a family, but is also suitable for a couple. It is one of four available guest rooms.

The space

This is an old estate house, originally built in the 1600's and redesigned in the 1800's, supposedly by the same architect as America's White House . It was completely refurbished by its current owners in 2008. It is an old walled estate, situated on 114 acres, with 55 stables and 2 gallops. It consists of 3 floors, 8 ensuite bedrooms, four reception rooms, a large country style kitchen and a working national hunt yard. It is located on the outskirts of Rathkeale town and is a 10 minute drive to the pretty village of Adare and a 20 minute drive to Limerick city. Both Shannon and Kerry Airports are a 45 minute drive, and the car ferry at Tarbert (Co. Kerry) , which crosses on a half hourly basis to Co. Clare - home of Irish traditional music, the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren is only 30 minutes away. It is also part of the route of the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the kitchen, the breakfast room, a private television room and the grounds of Beechmount House and stables.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to welcome and assist our guests in whatever way we can.

Other things to note

The stable yard is directly outside the back door of the house, and horses will be out of their stables for most of the morning. In addition to the horses, there are four quiet and friendly dogs. This is a peaceful, relaxing and private place that is a comfortable family home, with plenty outside space for exploring. It is a five minute walk from the town of Rathkeale.

I had a spectacular stay with Paula at her beatiful home near Rathkeale. She is a truly welcoming and generous host. She provided recommendations for places to visit within a short drive and local sights. The home is beautifully maintained with all modern conveniences. She cooked a lovely breakfast each morning and always made sure I had everything I needed. Thank you again Paula. I'm looking forward to seeing you again the next time I come to Ireland.

We, the dogs and the horses are all missing your undivided attention which we'd gotten used to over the past few days!! Safe journey home today and hopefully we'll meet again at some stage. Paula is the one of those people you meet and you feel like you know them all your life ,she makes you feel comfortable and welcome in her home. What a beautiful home. Our room was clean /tidy and well presented as was the bathroom . Loved waking up to the race horses excising in the morning and the views from the windows were wonderful . Breakfast was everything I could have wanted and more. Paula was a mind of information and I could have stayed all day just chatting over a cup of tea in the kitchen .Wonderful place to stay. Thank you Paula for making our Ireland road trip a membable .

Our stay at Paula's beautiful home was my favorite thing about our 10-day trip to Ireland and Scotland. First of all, the home and horse ranch where Paula and her family live is SO beautiful. What could be more picturesque and Irish than waking up and seeing the horses grazing on the lush green grass?!? We were met when we arrived by one of Paula's daughters who helped us bring our bags up to our lovely room on the third floor. The room was very large, clean and well-decorated. We got settled in and were met downstairs by Paula who had tea and warm scones. We sat and talked with her and shared stories life in Ireland and in the U.S. It was like talking to a friend I've known my entire life! In the morning, she made us a true full breakfast, and I was sad to leave her beautiful home and wonderful company. It was truly the best part of our journey, and Paula made us feel right at home despite being so far away.

Abbey, thank you so much for your beautiful and generous words, I really appreciate it. It was a treat meeting you and Pat and hearing about baby James and your life and education in the U.S. You are such a lovely young couple and it was our honour to entertain you both. Hope you had a lovely time in Scotland and got back home safely. Very best wishes to you and your family for the future, may it bring good health and much happiness.

As our children leave home and the surrounds become more silent, it feels like the right time to invite people into our home. While only doing Airbnb a short time, it has been a fabulous experience, full of conversation and fun, and everyone we've met to date, has been really lovely. Meeting new people, who bring stories and new perspectives is enlightening, challenges the mind, brightens our horizons and ultimately enriches our lives - what's there not to love!
