Newly renovated, spacious and quaint loft apartment with ultra-comfortable queen bed, large daybed couch, walk-in closet, bathroom, laundry area (inclusive of washer and dryer) and private backyard. Showcases an absolutely unique collection of contemporary art and a state-of-the-art stereo system. In the heart of Bed-Stuy, cradle of jazz and hip-hop and close to all other areas of Brooklyn.

The space

Welcome to the Artists Den! As soon as you walk into the large open plan, you will be seduced by the inviting vibe of this newly renovated loft apartment, with its rustic exposed brick wall, and the hardwood floor cozily framing the space. The living unit (bedroom, lounge/dining area, kitchen) boasts a high beam ceiling, allowing for a bright and airy atmosphere. Simply fold the brownstone-style interior shutters, and the room gushes with natural light, pouring through the bay window in the front façade. Or would you rather nestle into a homelike cocoon? Just draw the curtains to create a friendly intimacy, and the gentle glow of ceiling spotlights will bring life to a piquant collection of paintings, photographs, sculptures and other works by celebrated contemporary artists, fused with an exquisite assemblage of African artifacts and furniture.

Settle snugly in the sectional sofa, or rest your head against the tall headboard of the platform, queen size, bed: two perfect spots to kick back with a glass of wine in your hand, while soaking in the evening street view… unless you prefer to make the most of the home video projector and binge-watch your favorite TV shows on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Complimentary video-on-demand and Wi-Fi services are available, among other amenities provided by the house, such as a state-of-the-art stereo system, private access to a walk-in closet, a spacious laundry room (with washing machine and tumble-dryer), and a gorgeously paved backyard patio, designed by one of the hottest landscape artists in Brooklyn.

Have a pleasurable dining experience in the modern open kitchen (fully furnished with utensils, appliances, dishes, cookware), sitting at the island/breakfast bar. Prolong the moment in the en-suite bathroom, treating yourself with a long soak in the roman tub.

Once back from your night out (if you choose to have one), the well-lit private entrance will welcome you back to this unique garden-floor place you will be delighted to call your own for the length of your stay in Brooklyn.

The Artists Den owes its name not only to its artsy personality - the floor above the apartment hosts the (non-residential) studio space of an internationally renowned visual artist. During working days/hours (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5), you may catch the gentle sounds of creativity at work – or not...either way, home is where the Art is! So, again, welcome to the Artists Den!

This was a fantastic place to come back to after being out exploring all day. It's comfortable, peaceful, roomy, and there is a hot water jug!! You can make TEA! (For me this was a big deal as I'd just come from staying in a couple of hotels where there were no hot water jugs. Disaster.) I loved sitting out in the garden out back, drinking my tea. This is a small thing too but I was also hugely appreciative of the washing machine and the drier. (I'm a runner.) Mario is a really considerate and generous host and had loads of tips for good places to check out nearby.

The artists' den was fantastic! Mario was a very accomodating host from the minute we arrived in NYC. He went above and beyond to make sure check in was easy, and although we never met him in person, he was always available via text and was quick to respond. We met Daapo and Irungu and they were very nice and helpful. The apartment was comfy, clean, spacious, and stylish. It's on a quiet street, about a 10 minute walk to the subway, and there's a bus stop across the street so transport was a breeze. If we go back to New York, Mario's place will be top of the list for places to stay!

Mario's apartment was perfect for us. It's a lovely space with a very thoughtfully designed kitchen and very comfortable bed. The backyard was an unexpected treat. Communication with Mario and Astrid was easy and quick, Mario thoughtfully sent us some local recs, without our events asking. We didn't get to take too much advantage of the area because we were in Brooklyn for work, but there is a great grocery store on the corner and parking was very easy to find. We're already looking for another chance to say at Mario's again. Highly recommended!

The studio itself is awesome! It's inviting and cozy to watch movies in! The neighborhood itself was pretty dirty and a little sketchy at night but once you get past that it's good. There are citibikes near by for renting also :)

A beautiful quiet little retreat, full of art and great furnishings. Bed was super comfy and sheets and towels all smelled fresh. Near to a couple of great cafes and restaurants and not far from LOADS of other great bars and restaurants. Mario was very happy to share suggestions. 10/15 minute walk to undergrounds. Didn't want to leave.

Theres a ton of things to do in NY but the artist den was so comfy and cozy that we didnt feel the urge to do everything but still enjoyed our stay. Must stay here again! The fully stocked kitchen was convinient as well as the washer and dyer. The patio was very natural, yet modern because of the grill The bathtub was extremely plesant, big enough for two. And the bed and living area were amazing. Mario was a great host as well as his associates. Thanks for the unforgettable stay.

We (mother-teenage daughter pair) stayed at Mario´s place for seven nights. The apartment is excatly as described, clean, very cool and stylish space, yet comfortable. Everything worked well: well equipped kitchen (we cooked quite a lot), a spacious bathroom and an easy to use washing machine. The bed was super comfortable. The artwork and the details in the decoration add to the experience. Of the two subway stations nearby with used the Myrtle Avenue station. It took us about 10-15 minutes to walk the station and then some 20 minutes to Manhattan. There are three lines that go Manhattan, so you don´t have to wait for a long time. To go to Downtown Brooklyn we used the bus 38B. On the way back the bus stops right across the street from the apartment. There are two good supermarkets to choose from: the bigger one is opposite the Myrtle Avenue station and the other very conveniently just a short walk from the apartment on the same street. Mario is a wonderful host. Communication was quick and clear. He kindly held the apartment for us while we sorted out flights etc. Unfortunately we didn´t get to meet him but he answered all our questions quickly and gave great tips on cafes, bars and restaurants both in Brooklyn and in Manhattan. All in all we had a great stay at The Artist´s Den. Thank you, Mario, for having us!
