About this listing

Our house is nestled up the back of a community where the balcony looks over the jungle. Wake every morning to the sounds of only birds and go to sleep at night to the music of the forest. Pick your own coconuts to drink and swim in the fresh water.

The space

Our house is an open spaced wooden house that is off the beaten track.
It is a retreat in itself where you can sit all day and watch many coloured birds of all kinds. Listen to monkeys in the mornings and take beautiful walks through out the "community". Swim in fresh water pools and pick your own banana s. Make you own salad from jungle foraging. I can teach you how to make chocolate and take you to many beautiful places around. Many people come for a day or two and stay for many more. It is an oasis in the jungle.
We have 2 extra mattresses which we can either put in the room or out on the balcony in a tent structure for children or extra guests.
We are close to Diamante waterfall and you can access Nuayaca waterfall the back way.. a locals perspective.

Guest access

As our guest you will have access to use the kitchen facilities, to walk freely around the "community" land, access to fresh water pools and tracks that take you on adventures. Our house is an open living space where we eat and hang out so we are open to dine together sharing meals etc if that flows for us all.

Interaction with guests

Both my ten year old son and I are very happy to help you get the most out of your stay here. I am a vegan and vegetarian food creator. I am more than happy to feed you for meals if you would like. I use only organic ingredients and fresh from this land. If you do not have a car then we can pick you up and deliver you to places and we are very happy to take you to our secret beach spots and around the area. I am also a massage therapist, so if you are wanting a massage during your stay here, I would be happy to do that for you. click on this link for testimonials. (URL HIDDEN)

Other things to note

There is WiFi in the house but it is Costa Rica, and we are in the valley of jungle (URL HIDDEN) it is not always that great. But it works. It is best to bring your food to cook if you are staying for a few days if you do not have a car as we are not in that close walking distance to cafes etc. I am very happy to cook more meals for you other than breakfast and include you in our wee family dinners.

We are mainly a vegetarian family so if you are bringing food no big lumps of meat to cook. Pre-prepared and packaged meats are fine. You need a 4WD car if you are renting to get down to the house or I can arrange a taxi to bring you all the way to my door.

This place is one that my husband and I will never forget! Melissa is such an amazing person inside and out with a heart of gold. Her house is in such a beautiful location, right in the heart of the forest. Thank you thank you for opening the doors to us!

This house is beautiful, the view, being immersed in nature. The outdoor shower is refreshing and the cool breeze wss the best. We had a lot of fun playing with melissas son. And even though Melissa was tired upon arrival she conversed with us and I personally really enjoyed our conversation it was enlightening and fascinating. When I visit Costa Rica again I will try to stay and reconnect~♡

The farm where Melissa lives is a slice of heaven, rich and full of life, and Melissa and her son are crystal gems. Melissa wrote me as soon as I booked with a warm welcome email and invited me to join her and her friends to a local market during my stay. She arranged my pick up with her friend for a reasonable fee. I was greeted by her sweet son upon arrival at her house, a delicious and fresh vegan meal with at least 4 different dishes that she prepared, and a couple of her dear friends. The room I stayed in was spacious, the king size bed was so cozy and my privacy was respected. Oh and I must mention the amazing private outdoor shower and bath. And the waterfall a short 10 minutes walk from her house is a shady and refreshing baptismal. I felt very safe, welcomed and nourished here. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Not only did I receive an amazing place to stay, but I gained precious friendships.

This place location is really nice, with an amazing view, and the house was nice. The room was not much but a big comfy bed, but you can hang around in the house, and the balcony where the great view is, so you do not really need stuff in the room. Tinemaste is a nice but small town. The place is around 1-2 kilometer from the city, and is a pretty steep so it is a hardcore walk, but dueable if you want. Melissa orded a taxi for us when we arrived, so if was no problem getting there. You can buy chocolate and dinner from her if you wish, for a fee. All in all, if you don't have a car it might take some energy to get places (which it does in general in Costa Rica) but the location itself is pretty nice so it is a good trade. Melissa is talkative and friendly, and she has a really nice kid. Would recommend
