102 In the Grove the guesthouse is in a rural setting and our guests comment on how quiet and private it is with a large lawn area and outside table and chairs to enjoy the lovely days and evenings. We have the most amazing clear starry nights that can only be found in the country. Very relaxing, the perfect place to stay 1 night or unpack and stay a recommended 3 or 4 nights and explore all the area has to offer with so many places and things do and see within a 30 minute to 1 hours drive.

The space
102 in the Grove is a quiet, secluded and private separate accommodation set in an olive grove on our working cropping and livestock farm. We also run a beekeeping business with our 4 sons producing delicious New Zealand honey and other bee products which is available for sale.
There are beautiful views, and its a great base to explore the local area.

There are two bedrooms, one room has a queen the other has two single beds. There is a fully self contained kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, cutlery, pots, pans, etc. The bathroom has a great shower, toilet, basin and washing machine. All bed linen and towels supplied as well as an iron and ironing board The kitchen and lounge are open plan looking out onto green fields where our livestock graze . Sky TV and DVD player included. Sleeps 4 people.

The accommodation is very private, with own driveway and free parking. Our house is just a short walk away through the olive grove but is out of sight.
However as this is a working farm, someone is always not far away if you need assistance

102 in the grove is centrally located in the Waikato region and within a 1 hour drive of Rotorua, Hamilton, Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and just over 1 hour from Taupo. Tirau is 5 minutes away by car with cafes and shops to explore and Matamata is 10 minutes by car where you can find tours to see the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit film sets, supermarkets, banks and plenty of eateries. 9 golf courses are within a 30 minute drive, and its close to the Waikato River Trails which can be cycled or walked. Lake Karapiro is a 20 minute drive with its rowing venue and kayaking etc. There are many beautiful bush walks close by.

A car is recommended, and free parking is provided.

Okoroire, Waikato, New Zealand

Our neighbourhood consists of different types of farms eg dairy farms, cropping farms, deer farm, greyhound racing farm and a few lifestyle farms. Some local people work away in the local small towns which surround us.
We live in such a central spot, it is so easy to base yourself here at our guesthouse for 3 or 4 days, unpack and relax and day trip to many of the popular attractions. These include Waitomo Caves, Hobbiton, Rotorua and many more. Or explore the more relaxed out of the way places all within easy daytripping distances. For example both the East and West Coast beaches and the Coromandel Peninsula are easily accessed from here.
There are also numerous beautiful walks both easy and more challenging including The Waikato River Trails, Wairere Falls, (stunning walk with magnificent Views), Waihou Blue Springs Walk, Kauri Trees Walk, Mt Te Aroha, (challenging but worth it) and many more.
We can help you with information and advice on where to go and what to see or you can just chill out in peaceful privacy.
Its an easy 20 minute drive to Lake Karapiro for rowing events or kayaking.

I am a qualified Jeweller and my husband Mark is a farmer. We have lived in the area for 35 years. We own a mixed cropping farm growing mostly maize and fattening stock. We also have approximately 600 olive trees. We produce our own olive oil and have a licensed kitchen where we make pickles and relishes to sell from vegetables grown in our vegetable garden. We have 4 sons, two of whom are beekeepers and we are currently building up beehive numbers on the farm and will be producing honey and other bee related products as the apiary grows. We like to travel when our workload allows which never seems to be often enough. We enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and really enjoy hosting our guests. People who stay with us can be totally private or can feel free to join us at our house for a coffee or wine and a good chat.

During your stay
We really enjoy interacting with our guests but also totally respect their privacy. Guests are invited to wander up through the olive trees to our house for a coffee if they wish. We are usually working around the grove or farm and are more than happy to stop for a chat or show people round.
