This place was amazing!!! It looks EXACTLY as pictured. I felt everything was super clean. We were amazed by how many things were provided for us (coffee, chocolates, Tin foil, etc). Berlin was very easy to communicate with. Be sure to get quarters for the laundry machine! ($3.50) although I think they can give you change there. The location was perfect because it really was central to a lot of things. There's a market across the street and a huge shopping center just 2 minutes away. Overall we were extremely happy with this listing and would definitely stay there again!
House is located in a great neighborhood close to famous eateries and check in/check out was super easy, by way of a lockbox. There were other guests in another unit of the house so sometimes you can hear shower running or walking around upstairs. The tv had lots of channels and the beds were pretty comfortable. Perfect for family of 4, especially because there was air conditioning in each room.
We definitely enjoyed our stay at Berlin's place. We were six adult people and had plenty of space. The neighborhood is not ideal for walking around but in a great location to get to most places quickly. The place was unbelievably clean; I can't stress enough how comfortable we felt walking around bare feet. The shower was also super clean. It was a bit humid inside, but we after a couple of days we realized that setting the A/C to 'dry' helped out a lot! All in all, it was a good place to stay, and the host and his family were really friendly.
Overall it's an okay place. However I'm an avid airbnb user and have a lot of experience renting the places, and this one is definitely not one of the best. The main issue are the towels, they are either not properly washed or just made out of a cheap material - anyway, it's impossible to use them after the first wash, they start to stink. The house is EXTREMELY humid so we've left the ac on in order to dry them up a little bit. The host did not properly communicate the a/c issue and that it's necessary to turn it off anytime you walk out the house (even for a short time). Since it hasn't been properly communicated we've left to go about our day but Berlin contacted me and forced me to come back and turn the a/c off ( we had to cancel our plans). Definitely not a nice way to communicate the issues, a warning for the future would've sufficed but I guess oh well. If you turn the a/c off the house stinks because of the towels issue. This place just has a feel of hosts being cheap, Im sorry to put it this way but that's how we felt. The stove top is covered with foil paper obviously because they don't want to wash after you. The beds are not very comfortable and the sheets are very synthetic, by very i mean the $10 IKEA sheets will feel like heaven in comparison. On the positive sides - they quickly fixed the wifi issue since it hasn't been working properly, they left candy upon our arrival that was a nice touch. Overall I'd definitely pass it next time and will not recommend it for booking.
Response from Berlin:
Aloha Katy, Thank you so much for staying us, please find our responses to your concerns as below: 1. Towels are 100% cotton, all sanitized and washed thoroughly after each check out. We do provide fresh towels daily upon requested, but you did not ask. 2. AC policy been mentioned to your father at check in and it is POSTED behind the main door, you could not miss it when you close the door. On your first day, you left all AC on for the whole day, we let it go. The second day, still the same, that's why we messaged you. We are not CHEAP, we have more than enough solar energy for all AC to run 24/7, but it is safety issue and this is a wooden house. 3. Every guest has own standard on beds/mattresses, some preferred firm and most preferred soft. Therefore, we have soft beds for our guests. 4. House is full of windows, and it is windy if you have all of it opened. None of my previous guests reported humid in the house due to towels issue. 5. We have 100% cotton fitted sheets and it cost three times more than the IKEA one you had mentioned. 6. We covered stove plates with foil paper to prevent drips to the bottom of the stove (that's why drip pan foils are for sale on the market), and we do clean stove after each check out. 7. You have never mentioned anything to us during your entire stay, it is not fair to labeled us over here to all of these inauthentic problems. Mahalo, Berlin
