A forest house straight from a fairytale. It used to be a foresters' home - now available to you, with all the magnificence of the surrounding nature, a sparkling mountain stream, 3G signal, a beautiful bread oven for culinary pleasures and a quick access to neighbouring spa resorts, to the biggest climbing site in the country, to Celje, Laško and other sights. A thing to note: it is suprisingly big and generously roomy, used to be home to two families of foresters. :D

The space

The house has a very pleasant atmosphere: it has two bedrooms, two chill-out rooms, a big rustic kitchen and a bread oven to make your delicacies in it or just to chill and warm yourself on in the colder, beautiful autumn and winter days. The surrounding forests and hills offer a treasure of cycling and hiking oportunities:
- famous Laško spa is 15 min away by car (must-try)
- biggest natural climbing site in the country, 5min away
- most famous sights in this part of Slo within an hour drive away (Ljubljana (1h), Maribor, Celje (36min), Logarska valley (1h), Rogla or Golte ski resort (1h), Charterhouse Žiče (45min), Ptuj (1h), Kostanjevica na Krki (1:30), etc.).
- It takes about 2h to get to from Zagreb (Croatia) or Graz (Austria)

Guest access

To the whole house, with the exception of some closets.
There's also a table tennis table ;)

Interaction with guests

I'm usually available on my phone. I love to give tips :)

Other things to note

The house has all the usual comfort of an urban dwelling (comfort, fully equipped modern kitchen, bathroom, running water, boiler, electricity, mobile phone signal (3G), gas stove. That said, it still is a mountain cabin, so expect a bit of romantic rustic roughness - heating is by wood. And bring proper clothing for the outside.
It is possible to raise tents on the meadow and make a camp fire, grill etc.

The house has quite a history. Built in 1939 as a solitary forest-house for the foresters of a wealthly land-owner (in the place of a previous farm, of which the typical granary remains) it acted as a partisan resistance spot during WWII, where the two forester families often gave shelters to guerrilla fighters evading the occupying army in the surrounding hills and forests.

Smoking is only allowed outside of the house, where the only thing to note is acting responsibly towards the environment.

One of the guests will be given the knowledge and responsibility to handle the big oven firing and handling, and managing the water heating boiler which can be heated by wood or electricity. It's easy, but only one person should bear this responsibility, which makes others not allowed to perform these particular tasks.

Burning campfires outside is allowed on designated spots, with one thing to note: it's not allowed to make them with firewood intended for heating up the house. It should be done with old wood from the forest around the house and some designated wood on the property. It never runs out :)

If you intend to grill, bring charcoal!

Finally, take care of the environment and clean the meadow and forest of your debris for a sutinable pleasure! ;)

It is worth noting, that this is a private residence, it's not a professional hotel-service and that is the true beauty of Airbnb, if you ask me :)

The sooner we set the approximate check-in time-frame, the better. At least two days before arrival, please.

Check-out is at 16pm at the latest, unless arranged otherwise.

In accordance with old Slovene mountain tradition, all garbage produced in the hut(s), is caried down by the guests themselves.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - the house has a ground floor and a second floor - most of the sleeping capabilities are on the second floor with one flight of stairs leading up

Urban's place is wonderful. It is remote, quiet, beautiful, delightful and most definitely unique. Getting to the property was challenging for us and we lost our way. Urban's family were wonderful and came to our rescue and guided us to the house. Once there we made ourselves at home - lots of lovely chill out spaces, inside and out . The house had everything we needed for a family holiday. We loved the quirkiness of the house and its belongings - have fun spotting the moustaches! Read the guest book too - great stories and advice from fellow visitors. We walked from the house to Kal and enjoyed super hospitality at the mountain hut. Wish we were able to stay longer and we would have explored the local walks much more. Urban was a wonderful host, a mine of information. If you like to get away from it all, don't mind a few spider's webs (after all it's their home too) and want a location to remember this is the place for you. We loved it!

Urban is the perfect host. He was very obliging, he picked us up after we were stuck with our car and showed us the easy way up the mountain to the hut. Afterwards Urban welcomed us with some liquor and home made cookies and explained us everything about the house and the surroundings. The house is very big, well equipped and has enough space for eigth people. You can have a wonderful view of the mountains from the property. The oven needed about one day until the room downstairs was warm, but it's possible to make some delicious pizza in this wood fired oven. We had a wonderful time in your hut Urban. Thank you very much for hosting us. We would definitively come again to your place! Maybe the next time in the summer.

Urban is the best host I have ever met. You could not find a more caring host than him. He made us feel at home in his family house and went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing week. The house is magical. Driving up we couldn't believe we were staying here. It's in the middle of the forest, surrounded by fairy-like trees and meadows. The oven is the best. We made woodoven pizzas and they were the best pizza we ever had, some of us even cried; they were THAT good. If we could, we would have stayed for two more weeks. There is just something about this house. It's so unique and so well loved. I do have to say, this house is not for everyone. If you like luxury and a jacuzzi, this is not for you. If you like a magical stay, with the best host and the most gorgeous surroundings, this is for you. Thank you so much for letting us be a small part of the history of the house, we hope to see you again one day!

Superlatives don't begin to express how amazing this house is. Like a little bubble in time, it seems almost to bring you back in time, and into yourself. Here you can feel at home, at ease, whilst being in a stunning and exciting natural environment. Ideal as a starting point for hikes, it's also close to the famous Laško spa town!
