Our place is close to Metro Aumale. We are a young couple and a young actor living in a live & play art loft space, fully turned into a living space! Full kitchen, bath, tons of windows! And you can stay in our large indoor tipi! 100m from canal, 9 minute metro ride to downtown. Perfect for couples, solo travelers, business or for exploring the city.

The space

***Special note*** It is cooold AND cozy inside our art loft. During our winter months we make it cozy with the radiators, but as we do not have double-pane windows YOU get to make the place cozy by starting up the fire place. We have tons of firewood, and the fireplace is rad! Ghumo our cat is rad, too! The kitchen side is cold in particular, as it is far from the fireplace, but a sweater and a nice (nice!) winter hat will do the trick! (How cold on the kitchen side? Well, a couple of times each winter we get to say "Hey! Check it out! It is four degrees!" and we get to say this because we see that the olive oil has began to solidify!!! Crazy! But we love our space, so read on and come visit! ***

Hi!

Your tipi has a 3.5 meter diameter (you can stand inside of it!). The tipi is inside our Brussels warehouse loft space, called "The Other Side", which is a loft that has been turned into a living space since 2010. Besides the tipi itself, you get full use of everything The Other Side has to offer: full kitchen with a large bar, living room, bathroom with a tub and separate shower, plenty of huge windows which welcome in the sunlight for relaxing/reading, WIFI, washing machine, and lots of possible creative ideas!

Your tipi is inside the main space of 28 meters by 7.5 meters with very high ceilings, on floor 1 of the building. The large space (28x7.5m) also has an elevated wooden cabin (simon's room) and plenty of space.

There is also an extra mid-floor room of 7.5 meters by 4 meters with a low low ceiling (1.68m) ! It is between the ground floor and floor 1, connected to the main space. We like to call this room "The MALcoviCH." :) Two of us live in this room.

We hope to build a smaller tipi in the future, to be used as tea-room / relax / meditation area.

We have and love our cat Gumo. He lives indoors and is very clean.

The Other Side is in one of the main neighborhoods of Brussels, yet is a very quiet space given the configuration of the property. There is a large empty lot across the way (see the pictures), which also makes the space very quiet! It is also within minutes of downtown via the Aumale METRO station, just 150 meters away. Or you can borrow our communal bicycle to ride into town along the canal. The canal is only 100 meters from The Other Side! (9 minute METRO ride, or 15 minute bicycle ride to downtown, 40 minute walk along the canal).

We would like to invite guests to share our space and stay in our large indoor tipi (it has a full size mattress in there, so ok for couples, too.)

As mentioned above, we are looking for a long-term 4th housemate. If part of your visit to Brussels is to find housing, then we invite you to stay with us via airbnb first. Please do not try to negotiate a stay outside of airbnb if contacting us via the airbnb site.

If you have ever lived in a large communal living space, you will have lots to share. If you have not, you have a chance to see what these "strange" art spaces are all about, from the comfort of your indoor tipi!

If you are interested in staying long term (several months), or can foresee living here at The Other Side, we would ask that you be an active part of the project, helping to continue making the space a fun live/work/play space.

If you are just passing through town, we would love to host you in your private indoor tipi on your Brussels experience!

Guest access

You get to share the entire space with us (we are a young couple and a young actor). Full use of bathroom, shower, bathtub, laundry, internet, WIFI, kitchen, chill-out area and living room. The tipi is your sacred space!

Interaction with guests

We are a young couple and a young actor, all very invested into the space we call home and want to co-create. We like to cook our own organic food. We like to create, and we like to share. We can definitely enjoy a yummy organic meal together or a coffee, but mostly you will be on your own travel schedule and we will be on our own Bruxelles schedule. If it coincides that you have a longer stay and that we are working on an indoor project, we would love to hear of your ideas for the space, and if you are feeling like working with us hands on, you are more than welcome to! There is also the possibility of your visit turning The Other Side into your Brussels home, as we are actively looking for a fourth housemate to live long-term in the tipi.

Other things to note

Taking short showers are part of our house guidelines and the reason we can offer such a good price. We love to conserve energy! So yep, 5-minute showers!

Manu and Jennifer are great people, really welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful and gave us some great advice for things to do in the city. The tipi was exactly as sold: a private bed in a communal living space. We got the metro into town every day.

There were some water issues at their place but they arranged it to where I could stay at their friend's place close by. They went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable place to stay.

We had a lovely stay in the tipi! The art loft has a really great atmosphere and the tipi is very cozy and comfortable. The hosts were very nice and helpful, the location wasn't ideal but it is very close to public transportation, the Midi train station is also very close! Overall I would recommend staying here while in Brussels you won't regret it!

A lovely space, and even lovelier hosts! Manu and Jennifer were so helpful in suggesting things to do around Brussels and made me feel very welcome in their home. The tipi was super cozy and private...and I enjoyed many cuddles with Ghumo who is the best cat ever. Would definitely stay again if I manage to get myself back to this beautiful city!
