Perfect family house for a country retreat.

The space

CURRENT OFFER FOR October and November 2016 - book 4 nights and 5th night is free.
Within easy walking distance of Halls Gap visitors can enjoy the tranquillity of some open space in this clean and basic holiday house accommodation. This spacious property boasts impressive views of the mountains. Visitors also have the option of an authentic swag (STA) stay in the clear mountain air on the stunning 4 acre property. This property is perfect for families, outdoor types, sports teams or backpackers who just need a bed after a tiring active day.
It is a rustic and quaint rural retreat - please don't book expecting a spotless super modern townhouse - and like our past guests, you won't leave disappointed in the great natural experience. It is relatively old farmhouse, and there is a lot of character to it which people love but it isn't for everyone so know your expectations please. There is a few cracks here and there as you would expect for the area and age but we like to be reminded the good old days when we stay in our Bush Retreat and hope you will too.
Wake up to kangaroo and emu families roaming the property and kookaburras laughing.
No other houses are visible from the property as it is the best of being in the bush but also only 1 km from the centre of Halls Gap community at its shops, restaurants and walking trails.
Public transport to Melbourne and Adelaide is nearby (600 meters) and the same bus stop also runs buses to the wonderful Great Ocean Road.
Bedroom one has a King sized bed. Bedroom two has a double bed futon and a single bed.
Bedroom three has two single beds.
The lounge room is very spacious and the kitchen is also good sized.
Enquiry at the time of booking about a great discount on any of our single or multi day Grampians cycling (road and/or MTB), trail running, hiking, kayaking and wild fitness active adventures. Endurance, fun and family options available. Non active wildlife programs also available.

The yard of the house is kept deliberately overgrown to encourage wildlife. Lighting is limited to also help keep it natural for the animals in the evening.

We stayed at Aaron's house for a few days and really enjoyed the Halls Gap area, particularly the walking and hiking. The house was comfortable, quiet and surrounded by open land. We could spot lots of wildlife particularly in the morning and evening. The main downside of the house is the lack of a working washing machine. This is a problem after a hot day walking.

Hi David and Lindy, thanks very much for the feedback. You are more than welcome to come back and stay with us anytime. A treat to have you and glad you enjoyed your stay and yes we will look to fix up the washing machine at the earliest chance we get. Take care. Aaron and family.

Perfect location to explore the Grampians. The house is big, but needs some TLC. Beds are comfy, place was quite clean and everything in working order. The wood heater was lovely and fruit trees in the garden a bonus.

Secluded, beautiful location off the main road but so close to the town's centre. Well worn but very comfortable house, flanelette sheets, overgrown garden to explore and roos and emus as promised, as well as a rope swing over the creek. We had a wonderful week.

The said place is truly beautiful. Though old, like mentioned... ut is very cozy and comfortable. All 3 bedrooms and beds are very warm and comfortable Kitchen has all necessary equipment and bathroom is big, well lit and clean (taps in badin need to be fixed though) It was a beautiful experience to wake up in midst of nature with kangaroos and emus to be seen from the backyard and cockatoos and kookaburras all around you. Nice and comfy... and thanks to Aaron and Marie for setting up the fireplace before we arrived. Thank you again.
