Welcome to Casita Colibri! This cozy and rustic cabin/tiny house is your perfect getaway! We are 10 minutes from downtown Durango, moments away from hiking trails, open space, and the national forest. This is a beautiful garden retreat, tucked away behind Animas Mountain. This is unique living: futon bed in the loft, composting toilet, outdoor shower, and mini kitchen with the basics. Enjoy the front porch as the sun goes down. Pure delight. Good for adventurers, travelers, and couples. Enjoy!

The space

Casita Colibri is a lovely small cabin / tiny-house with a sleeping loft with a queen futon mattress, bathroom sink and vanity, hot and cold water, outdoor shower, mini fridge, toaster oven and coffee makings but is not set up for cooking. We will provide filtered drinking water as well - tap water is great too. The casita does not have full plumbing but does have a composting toilet that works great. This is rustic and cozy living. Not a ton of space, but great to come home to after a day playing outside. The setting in our lush garden is what makes this place amazing. Please, enjoy!

Guest access

The porch, outdoor shower and casita are your private space during your stay but you are welcome to share our grill on our front porch and the fire pit in the garden. Grab some lawn chairs too if you like!

Interaction with guests

The casita is located across a small yard from our home so you will see us come and go. We are happy to give you space and privacy or hangout if that is your style. The shared grill is on our front porch and the shared fire pit is in the garden up a terraced stairway from the casita and our house.

Other things to note

FYI-there are 30 stairs between the parking area and the casita...this spot is not for the faint of heart. Cell phone service is limited in the valley (best with Verizon).

For us, this was like hybrid camping. A bed and toilet, while showering outside and being near the woods. The home is nice, but we didn't love the composting toilet. With that said, it was a new experience and we like that. The location is beautiful and we particularly liked the gardens around the home. For us, the sour note was the lack of privacy. While our hosts were very sensitive about giving us space, you simply can't get away from the fact this tiny house is 15 feet from the main residence.

We loved our stay at Hannah's place! The cabin is beautiful and cozy, close to town and to many beautiful hikes, and the outdoor shower is lovely!

It was a great little cozy place, surrounded by green. It's situated like a Tiny house with the loft upstairs to sleep. Everything was very clean and just a perfect place to rest after a long day of adventures. The place is right next to the owners house, so privacy could be minimal, if that's important to you. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a small space and doesn't mind having a regular toilet. It offers a unique experience and we enjoyed our stay in this pretty setting.

This tiny house was perfectly suited for my daughter and I. The location was conveniently located to all of the activities we planned but felt secluded and peaceful. The hosts were terrific!

This tiny home was such a lovely relief between the national parks in Utah & heading on to Santa Fe. Hannah's garden is incredible & it feels like you wake up in the trees. Loved sitting outside (rain or shine) & I'm sure if I'd had more time (or energy!) exploring some of the hikes nearby would've added even more to my stay

Hannah and Adam were great hosts. The tiny house is very secluded in a beautiful garden setting. The rental is very rustic.

Perfect little tiny house in a gorgeous mountainside location just a short drive from Durango. AT&T cell service is minimal at the house but the wifi works great. Everything is exactly as listed- cozy, comfortable and clean.
