Rad ground floor, awes garden, coolest tortoises

The space

Actually it's not a basement, it's a cheap and sweet ground floor flat with east-oriented low windows, separated from our own flat (we live at the first floor) with a private shaded south-facing patio and a great sunny garden.

The cuty bedroom delivers vintage furnitures and a 140cm bed for two persons - or only one person if you're a fat guy (but hipsters are always slim… no shit??).

The main room is a kinda-weirdo-laundry-bathtub-dining room. There u can eat, wash yourself and your own clothes (washing-machine included) but u can't really cook… Obviously there's a kettle, a mini-fridge, a little gas hob for tea / coffee / instant-soup making… And a portable stereo with my own playlist! (It rocks, bro!!)
The toilets are down the hall. Sure, they're private but never forget: this is my home including my whole fucking stuff just behind the beaded curtain, dig?
There's also a garage for bikes.
Other services : Live TV by on your mobile device, WIFI/LAN, bikes available (but no fixies!), fresh eggs from my hens, fresh herbs from the garden to prepare the best teas you've ever drunk! I can also cook for you if you're a rich guy.

Interaction with guests

I know the best places for handcrafted beers, tapas and vegan restaurants if u want to get fatter.
I can trace fun itineraries on your Strava app if u want to get thinner.
I can also leave u sleeping.

Dan is the most excellent host and really makes sure you have a pleasant stay both in his home and in and around Arles. He knows all the visit spots and he communicates in good English too! :-) The cellar room is very simple not to say spartan and is more a heating central room. If you don't have a problem with that, it has all you need for a short Arles stay. We especially enjoyed the eggs from his own hens and fresh baguettes in the morning!

You'll find cute turtles in the garden, bikes to explore the surroundings and get to the city in short time. Dan is super cool +fun and can provide you with all you need to know about the city, where to go, the history of the bull friendly bull race in Arles etc.

Dan is a marvelous host. Not only is his basement surprising and charming but he has spent plenty of time feeding us with ideas of places to visit and things to see in Arles and around. Dan perfectly knows his city. He is cultivated and the advices he provides are definitely relevant. We also truly enjoyed the croissants and bread waiting for us on a table in front of the basement every morning and the fact that this basement has a private garden where we have taken our 2 breakfasts. If we have to go to Arles again (and we surely will), we know where we'll be landing: it'll be Dan's basement... Thanks again Dan!

Staying with Dan and Anne felt more like visiting long-lost French cousins. They are perfect hosts with a truly unique property. Dan sat with me for almost an hour explaining all the great things to do and see in Arles, he brought fresh bread and croissant from the bakery every morning, shared lunch with me, and even helped my repair my motorcycle! These two are dedicated to the art of hosting. I've made wonderful new friends in Dan and Anne, and I hope to return to Arles some day to hang with them again at the hipster's basement.

Dan was a very welcoming host, he gave us great recommendations of where to visit/ eat and drink in the city - the Saturday market was our favourite. The apartment was clean and had all the facilities we needed including a washing machine. There was also a lovely outside seating area where we ate breakfast - Dan brought us fresh bread and croissants each morning. We had the option to use his bbq and he also let us borrow his bikes to ride into the centre - it takes about 6 minutes. We travelled by car, and parking was no problem outside his house. We would definitely have stayed longer if we had the time - Dan was our favourite Airbnb host in a two week holiday in South of France.

Our stay in Dan's Hipster's basement was superb. Everything in the description was accurate and true. The place was spotless and everything was very well thought out. The basement apartment was quirky in the layout but that did not bother us at all. We had everything we needed and more. Coffee machines, plates, refrigerator, comfortable bed, music, books, and even some complimentary refreshments. Not only did we have everything, he also made sure we were comfortable and that we had all the information about the Arles, the monuments, museums, and restaurants. We really enjoyed the ability to us the bikes and the daily croissants and bread with homemade fig jelly. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I'm a musician and photographer, born in 1966 in Arles, FR. My wife Anne is a contemporary dance producer in Montpellier. We live in a house next to your location, but we're discrete and we will leave you alone except if you ask us something.
You can ask us for fresh organic eggs because we have three hens, but they won't disturb you, because they live in a garden on the other side of our house.
That said, Bengali the cat or Hortense the turtle may visit you with curiosity and without announcement during your stay.
