The residence is comfortable and located in a hipster quiet residential area. There are a number of local restaurants in the area where one can get Estonian cuisine at excellent prices.
I didn't go here but I was told Telliskivi street is a place with a bohemian feel and is worth checking out.
Close by to Balti Jaam, train station and bus port, there is also an open air market and heaps of shops and eateries housed under a warehouse. Selver, a supermarket, is also here.
Not a long walk from here and you're in the old town.
If you walk north from the residence you can visit Kalamaja Pagarikoda (delicious pastries with fillings), Torokse Talupood-Kohvik for Estonian cuisine (menu changes daily), Kohvik Sesoon (Estonian and lots to choose from on the menu), and the Lennusadam Seaplane Harbour (excellent musuem and attraction).
Marge is a great host and will answer any queries you may have.
