The property was settled in the 1860's by the Sanderson family & the homestead built in 1905.
It has it's very own beach, boat and Landrover with streams and a historic Maori Pa site which was in constant use before the 'Treaty of Waitangi'. The house was modernised in the 1990's and has been recently upgraded. It's right on the beach and enjoys all day sun. There's a caretaker who will open up the house and ensure all is running well prior to your stay (and is contactable during your stay).
The location is brilliant - a peaceful, private, quiet, sun-drenched retreat with loads of history - it's like stepping back in time to NZ as it was... The property is huge with lots to see in do. The house generates its own solar power and has large gas bottles (for water and cooking) which is backed up by an automatic ignition generator - so there's no risk of running out of power (or hot water!).
You will have access to the entire home for your full private use. The property has its own private beach and is huge (10acres) with two streams, mini waterfall, and historic Maori Pa.
Interaction with guests
There is a caretaker who will open up the house and ensure all is running well prior to your stay. They will also be contactable during your time at the homestead, should you require any assistance.
Other things to note
The Guest bedroom has a new split King bed and the Master has a Queen bed with new fresh linen The bunk room has recently been added to the boat shed away from the house with a queen & 2 single beds There is a day bed in the sitting room
The fire is very efficient and warms the house up quickly - there will also be plenty of firewood plus Weber gas BBQ.
There is also an outdoor shower and loo for guest use as well.
This is our family holiday homestead so please be respectful of the house and its contents.
