This listing is the entire lower level of our home with private bedroom, bathroom, living room and dining table. 1.5 blocks to South Grand restaurants, bars and shopping. 2 blocks to Tower Grove Park. 10 minute drive to Downtown St. Louis (Busch Stadium, The Arch, Scott Trade Center, Peabody Opera House). 15 minute drive to the Central West End (Barnes Hospital, Washington University). 20 minute drive to Forest Park (St. Louis Art Museum, Zoo, History Museum).
The lower level of our home is available to you, fully finished. The bedroom includes a full size bed and pocket door for privacy. You also have your own living room, bathroom, dining area and private entrance so this can feel like your own apartment. Washer and dryer available to use as well (but please bring your own detergent). You are welcome to use the front door entrance at any time, but most of our guests prefer the basement door under our deck for direct in-and-out access. This also puts you conveniently near our parking pad in the back which is yours to use throughout your stay. With your private entrance, you'll be able to come and go at any hour without the worry of waking us up!
The living room flat screen TV is connected to cable TV with premium channels including HBO and Showtime. Many on-demand options are available for free and you can record anything to your dedicated DVR!
We ask that no guests sleep on the couch overnight, but we do have a very comfortable fold-up cot by request with a memory foam mattress.
If you are over 5'9", you may have to duck just a bit in the living room portion of the space where the ceiling dips down for our duct work.
Our yard is surrounded by a tall privacy fence and you'll find the parking pad accessible from the alley just behind the gate.
A camera door bell with 2-way communication is on the basement door along with a key pad for you to gain entry if we are not available to meet you in person for your check in.
Other amenities for your use include: washer and dryer, shared main-level kitchen and the outdoor backyard patio.
Interaction with guests
We both have your average M-F workday schedule. By default, we are pretty hands off, but if an occasion arises where there's a gathering of neighborhood friends meeting up at one of our local establishments, a trivia night or something of that nature, you will be invited to come along. Tom performs at many open mic comedy nights in different places around the city throughout the week, so definitely let us know if you are a fan of comedy. Often times these are free!
Other things to note
Frosty lives with us also. He's a terrier lab mix, about 35 lbs. He's extremely friendly and loves attention, but he won't go downstairs so you can interact with him as little or as much as you like. After we go to work in the morning, Frosty watches over our block from the front windows and sometimes barks at passers-by, but most of the day, he sleeps.
We are a smart home with key pad entry and a camera on the front and back yards.
