My place is close to public transport. You’ll love my place because of the down to earth, no nonsense type of home, and neighborhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).

The space
Typical row home, in Philadelphia. Learn how to live in a house only 14 feet wide! You will find tea bags and a mug, and maybe some water, soda, juice or tea in the fridge, there is a Keurig, and pods of coffee, tea bags or hot chocolate in the sideboard (maybe even some ready to eat noodle meals). There is a nicely stocked corner store, and they prepare a decent variety of hot foods. There is ample storage space. Your room faces the north, which means a sunny morning but not overwhelming, and also you will hear a passing train at all hours of the day and night. If absolute silence appeals to you, then maybe you should seek shelter somewhere else. I like to keep the home as a family atmosphere, think of it like you are visiting Aunt Marlene.

Guest access
Living room, dining room/kitchen, laundry-- washing machine is in back room, dryer is in basement). There is 1 bathroom, that is shared, there may be a variety of toiletries. (there may be a stash of miscellaneous soaps/shampoos/lotions in the room) There is a park across the street, including a basketball court, and a dedicated skateboarding park. The perimeter is measured at 1/2 mile, so if you are walking or running for exercise, you have knowledge of the distance. There is a nice heirloom dining room table, where you are welcome to use to eat your meals or use your computer. The stove in the eating area is gas, and there is a fridge, where you can store things in the fridge/freezer if you want. Although tempting, don't leave dirty dishes in the sink, as the area is shared. My wifi provider is Comcast, and this is residential grade. If you require a professional/business/commercial grade internet connection to conduct business from my house, this won't meet your expectations. Downloading 4 seasons of Game of Thrones may take a while. The signal is strongest in the living room/dining room area. You are also welcome to sit outside on a chair on the front porch.

Other things to note
Family home. Mixed use urban. Mixed ethnic community. Public transpo. good. Wifi/Comcast, Sofa-bed, blue walls, wood floor, wardrobe/dresser, small closet to hang clothes. Shared bathroom. 2nd floor. Living room, dining room area shared. Sink, gas stove, room in larger fridge if you need space for food. Occasional outings with guests, restaurant trips, bikes avail. Our home hosts various people. There are times the house is full, other times, it is empty. I have wonderful neighbors, of every race, they are willing to help guide you to bus and train stops, and give you advice regarding shopping, and tourism. Don't be afraid to ask, if we aren't around to advise. The neighborhood is pleasant, but gritty. People work, work hard, and sometimes they also work on their cars. Don't let the graffiti, and the cars 'mid-repair' alarm you. I've lived here since 1992. Please don't prejudge, this is a safe place. It's just not spit-shined. Garbage day is usually Friday, but sometimes Saturday, and sometimes garbage accumulates.

I've been doing Airbnb for several years, also Mennonite Your Way (the beta version of Airbnb) since I was 19. I am still working on rehabilitating the kitchen, it's a labor of love, and I am learning how to forgive myself for all my DIY mistakes! I just got a job 2 hours away, and so I'm spending most of my time away from home. Don't worry, my neighbors are always available, if I'm not.

During your stay
I just got a job 2 hours away. So, I am limited as to my time in the home. Probably more available on weekends. But, if there is an issue, I have great neighbors and they are very helpful. I'm not always home. I also have someone who cleans at least once a week, but it is expected that each guest cleans up after themselves, just like you would if you were at home, or visiting Aunt Marlene. Many of the neighbors will also be pleasant, and might want to engage you in conversation. Don't prejudge them. Even though they might be wearing their p.j.s outside, or are fixing their cars on the street, or playing their music too loud, or let an f*** bomb fly, maybe even relaxing with a joint, they are genuine red blooded Americans, and pretty down to earth. I have taken certain guests on whirlwind late night tours of downtown Philly, and joined them at certain ethnic restaurants, so if time permits, I'll extend this experience to you. If you see something, or smell something, say something.
